Abstract

A set of fixtures for side/bottom-hung sash windows having a usually vertical rotational axis and a usually horizontal tilt axis at right angles thereto contains an operating lever fixture 2 for mounting on a window frame side and containing a handle-operated turning mechanism 11, 13, 15 having associated link and arm mechanisms which convert a rotary motion to two substantially linear operating motions. The set of fixtures further contains two hinge pin fixtures 6, 8 for mounting on diagonally opposite window frame corners and the respective hinge pins 7, 41 of which are orientated according to the rotational axis and the tilt axis respectively and are movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The set of fixtures additionally contains a coupling lever system 22, 24, 38, which is designed to transfer the two operating motions to a respective hinge pin fixture so as to move the respective hinge pins in dependence on the handle turn. Starting from a locking position (Figure 6) in which all fixture pins are in the extended state, the handle- operated turning mechanism is designed to produce unidirectional and substantially linear operating motions during a first part of the handle turn. A transmission fixture 4 is connected up between the operating lever fixture 2 and one 6 of the two hinge pin fixtures, and this transmission fixture contains a backlash mechanism which, during the first part of the handle turn, takes up the operating motion transferred from the turning mechanism. Upon a further turn of the handle in the same direction, the turning mechanism is designed to produce an oppositely directed operating motion for the directly connected hinge pin fixture 8, whilst the operating motion to the transmission fixture 4 continues in the same direction and is passed on to the hinge pin fixture 6 connected after the transmission fixture 4. A robust operating system is consequently produced, which can be operated with a single handle which will be moved in a way which comes naturally to the user. A window can thus first be brought into the one open state and can subsequently be brought into the other open state upon a further turn of the operating lever, and the locked state can be an end position for the operating lever. <IMAGE>
