Abstract

The device (1) has a light source (1.1) for sending light (L), and an optical unit (1.2) provided for diverting and reflecting the light. A transport device (3) is positioned in a predetermined position between two reflectors (1.2.1, 1.2.2) of the optical unit, where one of the reflectors is formed from a painted metal plate. A camera (1.3) records the reflected light. The optical unit is arranged such that the empty bottles are supplied with the light transmitted from the light source in two directions (Z, -Z). An independent claim is also included for a method for identifying empty bottles.
