FIG. 1
ADJUSTABLE MOUNTING BRACKET
BACKGROUND [0001] Plumbing refers to systems that convey fluids for a wide range of applications. Heating and cooling, waste removal, and potable water delivery are among the most common uses for plumbing. Typically, plumbing utilizes a series of tubes and other fittings, for example, elbows, tees, etc., to convey fluids. Traditionally, pipes or tubes are made of materials such as lead, steel, copper, etc. Over the years, plastics, for example, PolyVinyl Chloride (PVC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), etc., were used for making pipes. More recently, with the development of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) pipes, most modern day buildings and homes utilize PEX pipes or tubes. PEX pipes have achieved their popularity due to the benefits they provide. Conventionally, PEX tubes are installed using PEX hangers, PEX mounting brackets, etc. PEX tubes are installed in holes or cavities provided in bathroom walls. After setting up and making sure the alignment of the PEX tubes meet the required specifications, the cavity is sealed with cement and plastered to provide a fine finish. Typically, PEX tubes are either smooth, that is, in line with the surface of the wall of the building or protruding.
[0002] Existing plumbing tube mounting apparatuses lack an adjustable feature, which enables the same apparatus to be used for both scenarios. A mounting apparatus, which is adjustable and allows installation of both smooth and protruding plumbing tubes, is required. Furthermore, one of the prior art patents, for example, patent number US 20110163208 discloses a wall-mounted type support assembly for attaching pipes, conduit, and tubes to surfaces in a sanitary manner. The strut assemblies repel contaminants, are easy to inspect, and are easy to clean. Although, the prior art discloses a wall-mounted type support assembly, the prior art fails to disclose a removable or recyclable mounting apparatus. An apparatus, which is removable and recyclable for mounting multiple plumbing tubes, is required.
[0003] Hence, there is a long felt but unresolved need for a mounting apparatus, which is adjustable and allows installation of both smooth and protruding plumbing tubes. Moreover, there is a need for an apparatus, which is removable and recyclable for mounting multiple plumbing tubes.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0004] This summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simplified form that are further disclosed in the detailed description of the invention. This summary is not intended to identify key or essential inventive concepts of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended for determining the scope of the claimed subject matter.
[0005] The invention disclosed herein addresses the above-mentioned need for a mounting apparatus, which is adjustable and allows installation of both smooth and protruding plumbing tubes. Moreover, the invention addresses the need for an apparatus, which is removable and recyclable for mounting multiple plumbing tubes. The adjustable mounting bracket for mounting plumbing tubes on a wall of a building disclosed herein comprises a base member, at least four elongated holes, and at least four plates. The base member comprises an inner surface, an outer surface, and a plurality of openings. The base member has a C-shaped cross-section. The openings are positioned on the inner surface of the base member for mounting the plumbing tubes, and the base member is fastened to the wall of the building via fasteners. The elongated holes are configured on the base member. The openings 103c are positioned on the inner surface 103a of the base member 103 for mounting the plumbing tubes 101, and the base member 103 is fastened to the wall 102 of the building via fasteners 104. The fasteners 104 are, for example, screw thread fasteners, etc. In an embodiment, at least four elongated holes 105, or elongated holes, are configured on the base member 103. The four plates 106 comprises at least four holes 106a. The four plates 106 are detachably attached to the base member 103 via fasteners 104 as exemplarily illustrated in FIG. 1. The holes 106a configured in the plates 106 receive the fasteners 104, for example, wing nut fasteners, etc. The fasteners 104 inserted into the hole 106a of the plate 106 is positioned in one of the four elongated holes 105 for adjustably positioning the adjustable mounting bracket 100. The four plates 106 are of a substantially rectangular geometry. In an embodiment, the fasteners 104 used are, for example, wing nut fasteners. The adjustable mounting bracket 100 accommodates plumbing tubes 101 of standard sizes without requiring the installation of the adjustable plates 106. This ensures quick and easy installation of plumbing tubes 101. In an embodiment, the plumbing tubes 101 are made of a material, for example, a cross-linked polyethylene material (PEX), PEX cans, etc.
[0012] In another embodiment, the adjustable mounting bracket 100 accommodates varying protruding lengths of the plumbing tubes 101 and mounts the plumbing tubes 101 on the wall 102 of the building. The adjustable mounting bracket 100 is used in two ways, that is, either with the outer surface 103b of the base member 103 in contact with the wall 102 or with the outer surface 103b of the base member 103 positioned distal to the wall 102 of the building. If the plumbing tubes 101 do not protrude or extend from the surface of the wall 101, the outer surface 103b of the base member 103 of the adjustable mounting bracket 100 is positioned in contact with the wall 102 of the building, whereby each opening 103c can receive and accommodate distal ends of each plumbing tube 101 before the plumbing tube 101 is bricked into the wall 102. Alternatively, if the plumbing tubes 101 extend or protrude beyond the surface of the wall 102 of the building, then the outer surface 103b of the base member 103 of the adjustable mounting bracket 100 is positioned distal to the wall 102 of the building to receive and accommodate the distal ends of each plumbing tube 101 before the plumbing tube 101 is bricked into the wall 102. The plates 106 are adjusted to contact the wall 102 of the building. Furthermore, the plates 106 are fastened to the base member 103 via the fasteners 104 as exemplarily illustrated in FIG. 1. Then, the adjustable mounting bracket 100 is fastened to the wall 102 using fasteners 104 through elongated slots 107a and 107b. In an embodiment, the elongated slot 107a is oriented in a vertical configuration and the elongated slot 107b is oriented in a horizontal configuration. After the plumbing tubes 101 are bricked into the wall 102, the adjustable mounting bracket 100 is removed and recycled.
[0013] FIG. 2 exemplarily illustrates a front elevation view of an adjustable mounting bracket 100. FIG. 3 exemplarily illustrates a right side elevation view of an adjustable mounting bracket. As disclosed in the detailed description of FIG. 1, the adjustable mounting bracket 100 is used for mounting plumbing tubes 101 on a wall 102 of a building. In an embodiment, the plumbing tubes 101 are made of a material, for example, a cross-linked polyethylene material (PEX), etc. This cross-linked polyethylene material is formed into tubing for domestic water piping. PEX piping is commonly used as a replacement for, or alternative to, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or copper piping. PEX is economical, quicker to install, does not corrode, and does not develop pinhole leaks. Additionally, PEX does not burst if frozen. Because of its flexible form, PEX tubes are easy to fish into walls and accommodate turns without elbow joints. The adjustable mounting bracket 100 for mounting plumbing tubes 101 on a wall 102 of a building comprises a base member 103, at least four elongated holes 105, and at least four plates 106 as disclosed in the detailed description of FIG. 1. The multiple orientations of the adjustable mounting bracket 100 based on the protruding lengths of the plumbing tubes 101 are as disclosed in the detailed description of FIG. 1. The adjustable mounting bracket 100 is fastened to the wall 102 using fasteners 104 through elongated slots 107a and 107b. In an embodiment, the elongated slot 107a is oriented in a vertical configuration and the elongated slot 107b is oriented in a horizontal configuration.
