A safety work bench comprises a housing (11) with a box-shaped work area (7), a work surface (8) and an air outlet. A row of cartridge filters (15) is located under the work surface, and have an open lid at one end of a cylindrical filter body, and a closed lid at the other. The open end has a seal, and a blower (28) is connected to the other side of the filter body.
