Abstract

The invention produces a rich gas fuel free from heavy products such as tars and mineral pollutants such as alkali salts. The fuel may be used in energy producing units such as gas turbines, boilers or burners, and may be improved by vapor-reforming or partial oxidation producing hydrogen. Process for the production of a gas fuel from a mainly organic material comprises a thermolysis at 300 - 900 degrees C. at atmospheric pressure ; the solid products from the thermolysis are directed to a means of combustion (2) and the heat generated by the combustion is used to effect the thermolysis. An Independent claim is also included for the installation required.
