Abstract

A water-dispersible coating medium, consisting of binder and additives, is in the form of a granulate with a free or combined water content of 0.01-15 wt.% and, on dispersion in any desired quantity of water, gives a pH of more than 6. Also claimed is prodn. of the above coating medium by contacting a powder mixt. of coating medium constituents as carrier material with water or an aq. dispersion contg. the remainder or all or part of the coating medium components by means of a gas stream at 40-800 degrees C to remove water to a residual moisture content of 0.01-15 wt.% and produce a treatment mixt. in flowable granulate form.
