Abstract

A device for cleaning noxious exhaust air or the like from industrial installations by regenerative afterburning utilises a heated heat exchanger bed (WT) in a predetermined bed thickness (S), which consists of a suitable, preferably mineral material. During the process sequence, this bed takes a flow, in alternating direction in each case and at regular intervals, of the noxious waste air (AL) on the one hand and, in the opposite draught, of the hot pure air (RL) generated in the bed (WR) by the combustion of the noxious substances, the latter air (RL) in turn heating up the heat exchanger bed (WT) and thus being itself cooled. This pure air (RL) can then be passed into the open via an appropriate discharge point (3) directly or via a stack. <IMAGE>
