Abstract
New transgenic maize cell lines are prepd. from protoplasts recovered from a cell suspension of an auxin-autotrophic maize genotype. Also included are plants, plant parts and their descendants regenerated from these cells. Pref the protoplasts are of the genotype DSM 6009 and the new cell lines contain the phosphinothricin acetyl transferase (PAT) gene (the sequence of which is reproduced in the specification).
