Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Reinigen von Dimethylterephthalat. The invention relates to a method for purifying dimethyl terephthalate.
Man erhält also nach, den bisher bekanntgewordenen, Reinigungsmethoden kein extrem gereinigtes Di-Raw dimethyl terephthalate, like either by esterification of terephthalic acid or by depolymerization of. Polyethylene terephthalate obtained cannot be sufficiently purified by recrystallization or by distillation in vacuo will. A simple distillation under atmospheric pressure does not lead to complete either Cleaning, because the dimethyl terephthalate partially dissolves at the high temperatures decomposed. It has already been proposed that the Distillation of dimethyl terephthalate in three Zones to perform. The separation of non-distillable impurities succeeds, which remain in the reaction vessel. However, after this procedure it is not possible to completely separate off the products formed during the distillation, which occur as impurities. In addition, extensive equipment is required for this procedure. You get So according to the previously known cleaning methods no extremely purified di-

methyiterephthalat. Experience has shown that even small amounts of impurities disturb the condensation of the D.imethyl terephthalate sensitive to polyethylene terephthalate.
Es wurde gefunden, daß man rohes .Dimethylterephthalat bei Atmosphärendruck extrem reinigen kann, wenn, man das Dimethylterephthalat unter Durchleiten eines inerten Dampfstromes aromatischer, unsubstitüierter oder mit CH3-GruppenIt has been found that crude dimethyl terephthalate can be extremely purified at atmospheric pressure if the dimethyl terephthalate is passed through an inert steam stream of aromatic, unsubstituted or CH 3 groups
One proceeds here in such a way that one sets the to about 200 to 250 ° preheated vapors through a still
Das hergestellte Poly kondensat ist sehr hell und läßt sich gut auf Fäden und Fasern verarbeiten.• conducts, which is filled with crude dimethyl terephthalate and is continuously distilled over at temperatures of about 250 to 260 0. During lent namely, the boiling point of dimethyl terephthalate is 285 °, distilled already at 250 to 260 0 a mixture consisting of about 75% dime thy lterephthalat and / o of one of the compounds referred to above about 25 ° about. The cooled mixture is a hard crystal pulp, which is worked up on flakes and mixed with a small proportion of a pure aromatic compound, such as. B. toluene is washed. The last constituents of the aromatic compound are removed by subsequent drying. The purified dimethyl terephthalate shows a high degree of purity, so that it is immediately ready for transesterification and. a subsequent condensation to polyethylene terephthalate can be used. The produced poly condensate is very light and can be processed well on threads and fibers.
If, instead of: designated above, vapors of aromatic compounds other vapors such. B. methanol vapor, no purification takes place in the sense described above, because a sublimation of the dimethyl terephthalate formed occurs.
Beispiel 'Example '
In a distillation vessel which is filled with crude dimethyl terephthalate, the temperature of the molten starting product is kept constant at 270 to 273 0. During the distillation, a steam stream of toluene preheated to 255 0 is passed through in such an amount that 800 ecm Toluene are passed through every hour. The still is continuously filled with molten crude dimethyl terephthalate. The distillation rate is 2.5 kg of dimethyl terephthalate per hour. The temperature of the distillation flask is controlled by the temperature of the toluene vapors introduced, which are kept at 255 0. Characterized the internal temperature raises independently a to about 260 0 It distill per hour 2.5 kg of dimethyl terephthalate and 0.8 kg of toluene over. The distilled mixture shows no tendency for the dimethyl terephthalate to sublime, SO 1 that can be delayed by additional heating of the lines. The vapors are condensed on a cooled roller. The resulting crystal pulp is comminuted in flake form, washed with a little pure toluene and then subjected to drying.
