Man hat für diesen Zweck Kupferverbindungen, wie Kupferoxyd, Kupfer-Eiweissverbindungen, Kupfersilikat verwendet bzw. vorgeschlagen. Diese Stoffe haben zwar eine ausreichende Giftwirkung auf derartige Parasiten, aber gleichzeitig den Nachteil, dass sie wegen ihrer leichten Löslichkeit oder Zersetzlichkeit in Säuren, wie der Magensäure, den für Kupferionen charakteristischen Brechreiz oder sogar eine Brechwirkung verursachen. Hilfswege, die Löslichkeit zu verhindern oder zu erschweren, führen nicht zum vollen Erfolg. Die Erfindung besteht demnach darin, dass man aus löslichen Kupfersalzen, wie z.B. Kupfersulfat, mit entsprechenden Mengen eines Rhodansalzes, wie z.B. Rhodan-Ammonium oder Rhodan-Kalium, in Anwesenheit von schwefliger Säure oder anderen Reduktionsmitteln Kupferrhodanid fällt, welches dann mit Wasser ausgewaschen, getrocknet und in die gewünschten Formen, z.B. Tabletten, verarbeitet werden kann. Unter Umständen kann es zweckmässig sein, um eine grössere Oberfläche zu erzielen, bei der Fällung ein Schutzkolloid zu verwenden.
