Process for the production of an electrolyte for electrolytic capacitors
The invention relates to a method for producing an electrolyte for electrolytic
Capacitors that have metal deposits that are separated from each other by porous or
fibrous layers, which can be one or more parts, are separated.
It is already known to use electrolytes for such capacitors,
their approaches from a polyhydric alcohol, ammonia and boric acid or ammonium borates,
such as ammonium pentaborate or ammonium tetraborate, in which the boric acid is partially
is dehydrated. Common boric acid and also the ammonium borates are
but it contains water, and a relatively large amount of heat has to be supplied from the outside,
to finish the electrolyte.
The process of making an electrolyte, boric acid (H3B03)
and a polyhydric alcohol such as ethylene glycol and that in its manufacture
a hydroxide of ammonium or an alkali metal or an alkali metal oxide as well
optionally added as a diluent water or a monohydric alcohol
are, for electrolytic capacitors with porous or fibrous, from the electrolyte
impregnated intermediate layers between the metal coverings is characterized according to the invention
marked that
as a starting material containing receipts for production
of the electrolyte exclusively used doric anhydride (B203) and that the starting mixture
of the electrolyte, advantageously before the addition of the diluent, is heated.
The advantage of the invention over the known proposals is
So in the fact that when using boric anhydride as the starting material, the
the amount of water present is considerably less. It is known that the required
chemical and physical reaction in dehydrated solutions much better and more complete
goes on than in aqueous solutions.
erhalten. For example, about 2360 g of boric anhydride, 2050 g of ethylene glycol, 16o g of gum tragacanth dissolved in about 230 cc of ammonium hydroxide (26% strength) are used. It will be advantageous to mix the boric anhydride and ammonium hydroxide, then. add the glycol and heat the whole thing to around 140 to 150 ° C. After cooling, the gum is added in smaller quantities, the whole thing is stirred, and finally water, about 180 ccm, is advantageously added with constant stirring. Such a solution is suitable for the production of 500 volt electrolytic capacitors. For other voltages, only the amount of water needs to be changed regularly. Another polyhydric alcohol can be used in place of the ethylene glycol. Any other filler can be used in place of gum tragacanth. The addition of water should be chosen so that the desired viscosity or paste-like consistency is achieved. The heat treatment, which is advantageously carried out before the addition of the diluent and can optionally be carried out as a boiling process, brings about a desired chemical and physical change and finally the desired thick, rubbery or paste-like electrolyte is obtained.
If the electrolyte described is not only used as an operating electrolyte,
but also, or only, used to form the occupancy, then this happens
expediently in such a way that an alternating current is passed through its voltage
and frequency can be selected according to the size and type of capacitor.
So should the formation voltage used to make AC capacitors
be about the same or slightly larger than the ones for which the capacitor is
is intended in use. For DC capacitors, the AC voltage is appropriate
the DC voltage are superimposed, and the sum of the peak voltage of the AC voltage
and the DC voltage should then be equal to the highest voltage for which
the capacitor in question is to be used. It is also useful to use the alternating voltage
to choose approximately half or less than half of that voltage,
for which the DC capacitor is ultimately intended. It has now
shown that in such a form the marked cold approach,
which is heated by the generated electrical current heat, as an electrolyte, strangely enough
particularly suitable chemical. and maintain physical properties. The received
The layer on the co-heated coverings is more even and adheres better, that
The overall process is more economical because the electrolyte solution is specially boiled up

this is considerably reduced.
so z. B. von Monohydroxyd-Alkohol bewährt.Instead of or in addition to water, it has also been recommended to use other diluents,
