02 + q. H Cl. = a Na Cl + 2t C12 + a H2 O. Um einen Reaktionsverlauf in diesem unerwünschten

gewisse neue und fortschrittliche Verwendungsgebiete eröffnet: N a C102 + H-Austauscher
Process for obtaining aqueous solutions of chlorous or hypochlorous acid and optionally ozone solutions from chlorous acid solutions obtained in this way. B. Sodium chlorite (Na Cl 02) etc., have been known for a long time, as is the constitution of the chlorous acid itself (HC102), but the pure chlorous acid in acidic solution is unstable and its isolation has not yet been successful. It is not possible to use chlorous acid in the usual way, such as by driving off. to obtain the chlorous acid from its salts by adding a stronger acid or its salts, e.g. hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, bisulfates, etc., since the necessary excess acid causes immediate decomposition of the chlorous acid, with the formation of free chlorine and water, z. B. according to the scheme a Na Cl 02 + q. H Cl. = a Na Cl + 2t C12 + a H2 O. In order to avoid a course of the reaction in this undesirable sense, the reaction must be carried out without an excess of acid, even without an excess at the moment of the reaction. The difficulty of any such reaction in this case is the high tendency of the acid to be obtained to decompose. Surprisingly, this difficulty could be overcome by using one of the known bosom exchangers, e.g. B. a hydrogen permutite, the aqueous sodium chlorite solution is brought into contact with such an exchanger (»filtri.ert«). During this treatment, a Na ion is exchanged for a hydrogen ion, and a pure chlorous acid is obtained in an aqueous solution, which has not yet been shown and which accordingly opens up previously unknown, certain new and progressive areas of application: N a C102 + H- Exchanger = H Cl 02 + Na exchanger This chlorous acid is stable in solution and, when further diluted with water, breaks down into ozone, hypochlorous acid and chlorides or hydrochloric acid, provided the dilution water does not contain any alkalis. The resulting chlorous acid, which does not contain any foreign salts, possesses - perhaps corresponding to the higher valency of chlorine in this compound - an oxidizing power that is superior to chlorine and pure hypochlorous acid. B. for disinfecting water, for bleaching purposes and the like. B. aHC102 = 03 + HC10 + HC1. Example In a cylindrical vessel with a clear width of 80 mm and a length of 30 cm, which tapers conically at the bottom and is fitted with a tap and filter plate, there is 1 liter of synthetic resin base exchanger. The exchanger is regenerated beforehand with 10% hydrochloric acid and then washed with deionized or distilled water until the reaction to acid anions disappears. With an assumed exchange capacity of 10, around 9 liters of a 1 / a sodium chlorite solution can be converted into free, pure chlorine acid. The filter speed was adjusted so that 10 1 liquid pass the filter in 1 hour. The contact time should be at least 1 minute, and the temperature of the solution should. Do not exceed 300.
The described process for the production of chlorous acid from their
Salting with the aid of a base exchanger can also be extended to manufacture
of solutions of free hypochlorous acid, be it in the detour described above
the chlorous acid (from its salts with the help of a base exchanger), be it
by analogous base exchange of the hypochlorite orite. The same goes for manufacturing
of ozone solutions that arise from the chlorous acid solutions obtained by exchange.
