Since the curling process discovered by Marcel (1884) the procedure for producing curly waves in the hair by means of hot iron is procedural no more significant changes. The device used by Marcel is known to consist of a pincer-like structure, the so-called curling scissors, the one having cylindrical leg and a second leg, which is in the manner of a half ring cylinder is formed and can be brought into a position equidistant to the cylinder. Will be in the Pliers mouth inserted a strand of hair with heated iron and cut to the length of the full and half-ring cylinder distributed approximately evenly, by pressing the ends of the pliers together the Strand of hair bent more or less sharply, depending on the tension with which the strand of hair was pulled to which the iron is applied. With the help of a comb, which the strand in alternating diagonal directions Relocated to the combined cylinder and half-ring cylinder axis, the strand can gradually be brought into the desired wave or undulation shape. By the same Treating the next strand can turn hair that is naturally non-wavy into one such are brought.
Above all, the aforementioned kink is undesirable. Although it can be due to long-term Practice and skill are achieved so that the kink is hardly noticeable. The lower, however Practice and skill of the performer are,
709 915/90709 915/90
desto stärker treten die Knickstellen in Erscheinung, die sofort erkennen lassen, daß es sich um künstlich gewelltes Haar handelt.the more the kinks appear, which immediately indicate that it is artificially waved hair.
With this, the object of the present invention has been developed. It is the problem To train the method and device so that these kinks are no longer able to occur. This goes hand in hand with the further task of not making the procedure more difficult, on the contrary in such a way that it is even easier for beginners without much practice and without particular skill is possible to create the desired impression.
The method proposed in solving this problem for producing curls in the Hair by means of hot iron is characterized in that, according to the invention, one in wave form Lay out a strand of hair on a hot surface continuously running in the same direction, while doing so is ironed out to the wave to be produced and rearranged. The subsequent Wave of the strand to be treated laid out, treated in the same way and the process up to Curling of the entire strand carried out. Then the next strand is curled up of the entire hair treated in the same way. The device for carrying out the method consists of a cylinder held by a handle, which is driven by a drive motor is set in uniform revolutions. The cylinder is expediently designed as a hollow cylinder and has electrical interior lighting in the cavity. The engine is expedient in misplaced the handle; but of course a drive with a flexible shaft is also possible fixed motor from possible. Control devices for the motor actuation are advantageous and heating provided, whereby speed and temperature regulators can be present. the Temperature regulators are expediently designed in the form of a thermostat, which is set in such a way that that the necessary working temperature is automatically maintained.
Hair burning scissors or hair waves with a fixed, rod-shaped branding iron are already known. In the known devices, however, one is pressing and kinking on the cooperation acting auxiliary equipment, so that the branding iron has a conical design Displacement of cone halves in a central plane in such a way that sharp edges or Recesses are created that were used to kink the hair shaft. At other institutions with a cylindrical central rod were used for the same purpose, resilient hair clips attached to the detected strand of hair are applied in order to produce the curl and kink in this way. Such however, pressing and kinking devices are to be avoided.
It is in the essence of the training of this device that the hair again set between the two legs and a more or less large one, too kinked Is subjected to inducing pressure. The formation of the jaws of the scissors prevents that reciprocating bow movements carried out parallel to the axis of the rotating scissor arm can be. In addition, of course, the second leg hinders the without any circumferential parts free handling of the encircling leg, which is required when one of the proposed according to the invention Wants to carry out the procedure. The hair between the cylinder and the half cylinder is still heated on one side and thus exposed to the risk of scorching. The ironing process is dormant because the hair does not change its position in relation to the half cylinder; thus arise the edges of the half-cylinder again the sharp kinks, which also with the curling iron with rigid, not rotating cylinder. The sharp kinks in the hair make it easy to see that it is again a question of artificially produced curls, and there is no education whatsoever Gentle waves with a large radius of curvature, to which the application of the According to the invention proposed method leads because it is dependent on the movements of the executing Hand depends on giving the hair the desired course of the wave and making all transitions so gradually to shape that the impression of hair with natural waves or curls occurs.
