Modulation circuits are often used for the amplitude modulation of high-frequency transmitters
used, in which a high-frequency amplifier tube the load of a modulation tube
represents. An example of such a modulation circuit, for example for modulation
can be used by television transmitters with Bildfrequemzgemischen, Fig. ι shows: The high-frequency amplifier tube
ι lies with the modulation tube 2 in ίο series, the one created between points 3 and 4
Anode voltage is divided by tubes 1 and 2. The control grid of the high-frequency amplifier tube
ι is the carrier frequency 5, and the control grid of the modulation tube 2 is the image frequency mixture
6 supplied. The voltage drop that occurs across the tube 2 is added
a DC voltage 7 to the grid of the high-frequency amplifier tube 1 and thus determined
the current permeability of tubes 1 and 2. This circuit, which comes in different variants
is used, has a disadvantage that is particularly disruptive to television broadcasters:
The high-frequency amplifier tube 1 (acts as a load resistor
of the modulation tube 2. However, as with television stations. the carrier between
large and small values fluctuates, the load resistance represented by the tube 1 is
not constant because of the change in the tube slope at the kink of the tube characteristic. Since the
Loading of the modulation tube 2 not only from that represented by the high-frequency amplifier tube 1
real resistance, but also from the unavoidable tube and circuit capacitance, it results between
large and small values of the carrier a difference in the frequency response of the modulation.
konstant bleibt. The object of the present invention is to avoid this disadvantage. According to the invention
is used in a modulation circuit, especially in the modulation of television transmitters with picture frequency mixtures,
a high frequency amplifier tube as a load on a modulation tube
is connected, a rectifier as an additional load of the modulation tube with a counter voltage
arranged of such a size that the rectifier then begins to carry current when
the high-frequency amplifier tube with its operating point in areas of lower steepness of the
Tube characteristic is coming. It is achieved that the load on the modulation tube approximately
remains constant.
The invention is explained below with reference to the embodiment of FIG
the same designations are provided for the same switching elements as in FIG. 1. Between
The anode and cathode of the modulation tube 2, the rectifier 10 is in series with the counter voltage
ir. This counter voltage 11 has a
such a size that the rectifier 10 passes the more current, the more the operating point of the
High-frequency amplifier tube 1 comes into the kink of the tube characteristic. To the size of the through
to influence the rectifier 10 current flowing so that the real part of the load resistance
for the modulation tube 2 remains constant as precisely as possible, you can also use a
Provide resistor 12 of a suitable size.
The arrangement according to the invention has another very important advantage: rectifier
10 can be dimensioned with counter voltage 11 and resistor 12 so that when reduced
of the current of the modulation tube 2 to a value that corresponds to the so-called "white value"
»Negative modulation« corresponds approximately to the fact that the entire current flows through the rectifier. on
in this way a substantial overdriving of the white value can be avoided.
