Description
Method and device for the production of strands od. Like. From Fibers of thermoplastic materials, in particular made of glass fibers. It is known that yarns, Twists, cords and ropes made of fibers from glass, slag or other in the heat manufacture plastic materials in such a way that the fibers pass through a duct fed to a rotating funnel and distributed evenly on its inner surface whereupon they pass through the funnel opening and a subsequent molded body with the formation of a yarn or the like, i.e. a twisted fiber strand, together- and be deducted. In the course of the production of these yarns, ropes, etc., these can be used to form insulating cords with other yarns, wires or the like wrapped or be bobbin lace.
When using fiber strands of the type in question for insulating. and for similar purposes it has been shown that it is not necessary to use the fibers of the Twisting strands together so that untwisted strands are rather good ones Have an effect.
With regard to. The applicant has set itself the task of this fact provided the above-mentioned method and the apparatus used therein so to change so that then untwisted fiber strands can be produced. The changes represent a simplification and cheaper of the known methods and means and thereby lead to a cheaper one, but for insulation and similar purposes equivalent product.
The novelty of the method according to the invention consists essentially in that the fibers only on part of a fixed funnel-shaped collecting body be brought to the filing as a fleece ;. whereupon the fleece is attached to the collector marriage: -Adjoining truncated cone under rectification. of the fibers to form the strand is pulled through and forwarded.
By eliminating rotating parts, there is an essential one Simplification and the elimination of the effort otherwise required for these parts. A further simplification results from the fact that the fibers only cover a part be applied to the inner surface of the collecting funnel as a fleece tape and not must be evenly distributed over the entire inner surface of the same. Through this There is also no need for special guiding means when feeding fibers to the collecting body.
Finally, as a result of the. Using a fixed Collecting funnel the resulting strand in a simple manner with a tape, for. B. made of fiberglass, envelop by z. B. this tape is arranged and guided in such a way that that it slides onto the part of the collecting body on which the incoming fibers are to Reach the shelf, moving in the longitudinal direction to the lays the fiber strand under the formation and envelops it.
The fibers used for the production of the fiber strand can by any known method, for example by drawing by means of gas flows, by centrifuging by means of a rotating body and dividing the. fibers thrown off by gas streams, etc.
The gas flow can be used to supply the fibers to the collecting surface which was used to produce or cut the fibers.
In the drawing, FIGS. I and 2 show exemplary embodiments of devices for practicing the method according to the invention.
In the embodiment shown in Figure i, the device exists from one forming the collecting surface, with its axis horizontal or inclined lying, fixed hollow truncated cone i with air-permeable walls, which in a frame: 2 is held. The wall of this hollow truncated cone is made of a metal mesh educated. Another part of the device is that of forming the fiber strand Serving hollow cone 3 with full walls, the tip of the hollow truncated cone i forms and is provided with an outlet opening 4.
The fibers 5 are one. Tel of the collecting cone i, namely in the The embodiment shown supplied to the lower part of the inner surface of the cone and form a sliver 6 there. This sliver is then introduced into the forming cone 3, in which the fibers are joined together to form a 7-tight strand that forms the cone 3 through the opening 4 leaves. The fiber strand becomes after exiting the forming cone 3 by means of a suitable device 8, as shown in Fig. I, wrapped around and then comes to rollers 9; those for locomotion and strand formation the necessary tension on the fibers.
In the embodiment according to Fig. 2-, the lower parts of the Cone io and the cone 13 recesses in which a bulged channel i i is arranged is, which serves as a guide for the wrapping tape 12, for example from a Consists of fiberglass fleece. The fibers 5 are placed on this belt 12 for storage and inserted with it into the forming cone 13. At the outlet opening 14 of the Kegels 13 an adjustable tongue 15 is provided, which allows the degree the compression of the fibers as they pass through the mouth of the forming cone to regulate.
The one emerging from the forming cone, encased by the glass fiber fleece Strand 16 is subjected to a tensile effect and, by means of a suitable device, about from. of the kind shown in Fig. i.
The collecting surface for the fibers does not necessarily need to be conical be. However, it must be of a shape whose cross-section differs from the collecting zone gradually waning towards the entry of the forming cone.
