Device for setting the phase position of an electromagnetic
Vibration in a waveguide The invention relates to a device for
Adjustment of the phase position of an electromagnetic oscillation in a waveguide.
It is known, waveguides for the transmission of very short electromagnetic
To use vibrations. The pipe diameter is in the order of magnitude
of the transmitted waves. The open end of such conductors has a directional characteristic
the directional properties being improved by a conical design of the opening
can be. It has already been proposed combinations of such tubular radiators
to use to increase the directivity and the gain. About such combinations of lamps
to be able to use it effectively with connected waveguides, it is necessary to
precisely adjust the phase relationships of the individual radiators to one another.
Weiterhin
It is known that the light in a waveguide with H-wave excitation
Width of the pipe in the direction
the electric field strength variable
close. Such a device has certain disadvantages. Once the deformation requires
a round pipe cross-section a considerable construction effort. Farther
the device can only be used for a Hi excitation of a certain polarization.
You therefore have a piece of pipe from opposite in the course of a waveguide
the normal cross-section different cross-section arranged and for setting the
Phase position of the oscillation made the length of this pipe section variable. Included
there are also structural difficulties because the setting means that the
Total length of the waveguide changed. The invention avoids this difficulty
in that the pipe section is designed and installed in the cable run,
that its length is adjustable without affecting the total length of the hollow pipe arrangement
will be changed.
Abb. i zeigt eine Richtantennenanordnung mit einem solchen Phasenschieber;
die Abb. 2 bis 5 beispielsweise Ausführungen des Erfindungsgegenstandes. In Abb.
Rohrg mit dem Schieber i i leitend verbindet.
gleich.
andere Endstellung.Fig. I shows a directional antenna arrangement with such a phase shifter;
Figs. 2 to 5, for example, embodiments of the subject matter of the invention. In fig.
i is 2 a decimeter wave transmitter, its energy via the Y-pipe 3 with the legs
4 and 5 is fed to the two directional radiators 6 and 7. To achieve a suitable
Directional characteristic, it is necessary to adjust the phase position of the individual radiators.
For this purpose, a phase shifter 8 is built into one leg. This one
The phase shifter is shown in Fig. 2. It consists of two solid tubes g and to
with a normal cross-section and a pipe section i i, which can be moved on both sides
from the wide tube 12 and the narrow tube 13. 14 is a contact spring that the
Rohrg with the slide i i connects conductive. In one end position (slide
all the way to the left, Fig. 2 a), the pipe cross-section is approximately over the entire length
constant; the wavelength of the electromagnetic oscillation is thus over the whole
The pipe length is the same and the phase in the two directional radiators 6 and 7 is also
same. By moving the pipe section i i to the right, an increasingly longer one
Piece of the wide tube 12 free. Because in a wide cross-section the wavelength
electromagnetic oscillation is smaller than in a narrow cross-section,
the phase of the oscillation shifts at the end of the pipe to. Fig. 2b shows the
other end position.
Furthermore, a phase change with a pipe is also reduced in size
Cross-section possible, as Fig. 3 shows. 15 and 16 are two pieces of pipe with normal
Cross-section, 17 an approach with a reduced diameter. The slide 18 consists
from the narrow tube 1g, which is displaceable in the extension 17, and from the wide
Pipe 2o that runs on the pipe section 15. If the slide 18 shown in the figure
is in the middle position, pushed to the right, so the pipe diameter is over
a greater length is a normal value; the pipe diameter is reversed when moving
decreased from 18 to the left over a greater length. If the diameter of 1g
chosen so that it is only slightly above the cut-off wavelength, the tube wavelength becomes
greatly enlarged and small shifts are sufficient to adjust the phase at the output of the
Rohres change considerably.
Should the phase be both forward and
are turned back, an arrangement according to Fig. 4 is recommended. 21 and 22
are the pipe ends with a normal cross-section. The diameter of the two pieces of pipe
23 and 24 are chosen so that in the drawn central position of the slide
Shortening of the shaft in the wide tube 23 straight through the extension in the narrow part
24 is repealed. By moving the moving part, the phase
rotated in both directions.
Under certain circumstances, the desired change in length can also be electrical
generated, e.g. B. by a glow discharge of variable length.
Fig. 5 shows such an arrangement. 25 is the waveguide, 26 is
a glow lamp with a rod-shaped electrode 27 and a cylindrical electrode
28. With a suitable choice of the gas pressure one can achieve that the length of the negative
Glow light fluctuates with the voltage applied to the electrodes. In this manner
a reduced cross-section can be changed in length with practically no inertia
and shift the phase of the electromagnetic oscillation. Such a phase shifter
can be used in an arrangement according to Fig. i for modulating decimeter waves
if the phase shift is chosen so that the electromagnetic
The fields of the two directional radiators 6 and 7 weaken or strengthen.
