Die Verwendung von Eisensulfat, d. h. seine Nutzbarmachung, stieß einerseits auf große Schwierigkeiten und andererseits ist bei der Herstellung von Ammonium.sulfat die Ersparung von Schwefelsäure äußerst erwünscht. Beide Probleme werden gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung gemeinsam gelöst, da sowohl dass Eisensulfat, das z. B. als Abfallprodukt bei der Herstellung von Titan, usw. anfällt, in. wertvolle Stoffe, d. h. Ammoniumsulfat einerseits und Eisenhydroxyd, das auf Eisenfarben, Eisen selbst oder Eisenverbindungen aufgearbeitet werden kann, andererseits übergeführt wird, als auch durch eine doppelte Umsetzung dieses Eisensulfats mit Ammoniak eine erhebliche Ersparnis an Schwefelsäure eintritt. PATENTANSPRUCH: Verfahren zur Herstellung von Ammon.iumsulfat, insbesondere für Düngezwecke, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß Ammoniak, z. B. in Form des bei der Destillation von Kohle z. B. dem Verkoken anfallenden Ammoniakwassers bzw. synthetisch gewonnenen Ammoniaks mit aus der Aufarbeitung von Titanerzen und anderen Verfahren außer dem Beizen von Eisen herrührendem Eisensulfat umgesetzt wird, vorzugsweise unter Bemessen des Verhältnisses von Ammoniak -zu Eisensulfat unter Berücksichtigung etwa vorhandener saurer Anteile derart, daß das Eisenhydroxyd ausgefällt und nach dessen Abtrennung das Ammoniu@msulfat auf bekannte Weise gewonnen wird.
