Bisher entwickelte Trinkgefäßhalter für die Benutzung durch körperbehinderte Menschen sind im Gebrauch nicht so variabel, wie es die individuellen Anfordernisse in der Praxis erfordern. Da insbesondere behinderte Menschen individuelle Körpermaße, Trinkfähigkeiten und -gewohnheiten haben muß ein Trinkgefäßhalter für diese Personengruppe verschiedene Einstellmöglichkeiten aufweisen. Bisherige Lösungen (z.B. Trinkbechergestell von Firma „Thomashilfen" Katalog: „Interessante Hilfen im Alltag 1994" Seite 20 oder GM 74 33 603) erfüllen meistens keinen oder nur einen Teil dieser Verstellmöglichkeiten. Sie sind entweder nur höhenverstellbar mit einem Gefäßhalter für eine Gefäßart und -größe, oder sie erlauben verschiedene Gefäßgrößen bei fehlender Versteilmögiichkeit in der Höhe. Zusätzlich ist es nicht möglich zwischen einer starren oder schwingenden Aufhängung des Gefäßhalters zu wählen, was von Fall zu Fall für verschiedene Behinderungsarten erforderlich ist. Ebenso ist die Handhabung dieser bisherigen Trinkgefäßhalter umständlich, was den Vorgang des Versteilens (etwa mit Rändelschrauben etc.), das Befüllen (Gestell ist im Weg) und das Transportieren (kein definierter Griff) anbelangt.Drinking vessel holders developed to date for use by physically disabled people are not as variable in use as the individual requirements in practice require.
