Description

The tent poles attached to caravans, tents, etc. are usually pulled apart like a telescope in order to optimally tension the tent tarpaulin. They are usually locked in place using wing nuts, wing screws or heart-shaped eyebolts. Due to the effects of the weather, these are subject to strong corrosion, so that the threads are often very stiff.

In order to increase the leverage when turning the wing nuts or wing screws or heart-shaped eyebolts, socket wrenches are known for axially attaching to the nuts or screws, in which the wrench shaft is preferably made of round material or round tube. These socket wrenches have a central hole (2) and a front-side milling (3) or shape so that the wings of the screw or nut or the head of the heart-shaped eyebolts (4) can be accommodated. To transfer the force from the hand to the wrench, a cross bolt (5) is attached to the end of the wrench shaft opposite the milling.

This cross bolt (5) has the disadvantage that it places pressure on the palm of the hand when using the socket wrench and can therefore cause pain. In addition, due to its bulkiness, it can cause damage to other objects, e.g. those made of fabric, if it slips during handling and transport.

The innovation now concerns a socket wrench for tent pole tensioning screws, which does not have the bulky cross bolt (5) and is nevertheless suitable for full power transmission.

This is achieved by attaching a large, spherical handle (6) axially to the end of the handle shaft (1). A commercially available handle screw with a large diameter is ideal for this. The screw shaft (7) or the screw thread of the handle screw is inserted into an axial hole (8) with a diameter that fits the screw shaft (7). The handle screw is attached flush to the handle shaft (l). The force fit is created, for example, by a cross pin (9) which radially penetrates the key shaft (l) and the screw shaft (7) or the screw thread.
