Compressed Air Propelled Feed Mechanism The invention relates to
one driven by compressed air, consisting of a cylinder and a pressure piston
Feed device with an adjustable pressure back pressure from the pressure piston
from an oil brake cylinder to be displaced pressure oil generating oil brake that a
Has throttle valve acting in both directions of movement to achieve a
constant feed speed, especially for machine tools. Such
Devices are known and are used, for example, to move the carriage
of shaping, broaching or grinding machines, but especially the feed spindle of
Drilling machines. To the change in such pneumatic drives as a result
the feed force occurring undesirable fluctuations in the feed speed
to eliminate, it is also known, a hydraulic, in both directions of movement
Acting braking device to be provided, the drive of which is provided by one of the displaceable
Part (pressure piston or pressure cylinder) each displaced during the forward and reverse movement
and an amount of liquid causing a pressure back pressure takes place.
The invention now aims to be concise, simplified and consequently
To enable cheaper construction of such facilities, especially by the
previously separately executed and attached braking device directly into the
Compressed air cylinder is introduced. This is achieved in that according to the invention
the oil brake cylinder in the piston rod of the pressure piston of the compressed air cylinder
arranged and the throttle valve with an end wall of the stationary in a known manner
or displaceable compressed air cylinder is firmly connected.
io befindliche Luft durch die Leitung i i abströmt.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is in one
Longitudinal section shown.
In the figure, i is the compressed air cylinder
the feed device. In this cylinder i is located in alternating directions
movable pressure piston 2 in which the brake cylinder of the hydraulic braking device
with rooms 3 and 4 is installed. The pressure piston is in the upper end position
drawn. The cover 5 closes the space 4 from below. The pressure piston
2 is mounted on the hollow spindle 6, which is rigidly connected to the cylinder i
and displaceable along the same. If you let 7 compressed air with the help of the switching valve
flow through the line 8 into the cylinder chamber 9, so the pressure piston moves
2 along the spindle 6 forwards, in the drawing downwards, while that in the cylinder space
io located air flows out through the line i i. Rooms 3 and 4 of the brake cylinder
are filled with oil, which is now under the pressure of the pressure piston: 2 from the chamber 3 into the
Room 4 flows over. The two rooms are separated by a perforated partition 12,
which is rigidly connected to the spindle e, separated from each other. A valve ring
13 closes the holes 14 in this movement phase and becomes .des pressure piston during the course of the movement
pressed against the partition wall by the oil pressure. The oil occurs at the throttle point
15 of the regulating member 16 in the interior 17 of the hollow spindle 6 and through
the opening 18 of the spindle into the space 4 of the brake cylinder. One also on
the stop i, 9 located on the spindle 6 serves on the one hand to limit the stroke. of
Pressure piston on the flow and on the other side of the valve ring 13 on the return. For
the return of the pressure piston is the switching valve? reversed so that now the
Compressed air reaches the cylinder chamber io through the line ii and the cylinder chamber
9 is emptied. The oil flows from space 4 through the throttle parts 15 into the
Room 3 in the opposite direction as for the advance. An economical work of the
Device is known to be achieved when the return is faster than
the advance. For this purpose, an additional valve is opened, which the oil faster
can flow into room 3. The oil pressure that is now from the bottom. on the
with holes 14 provided partition i2 acts, lifts the valve ring 13 from his
Seat, whereupon -the flow of oil through holes _1q: in the partition 12
can be done. Because the force of the plunger is only used in the advance
it is advantageous to obtain a greater force when moving forward than when moving backward.
That is why the upper effective area of the piston is: 2 larger than the lower. In addition
This results in a considerable saving in compressed air. So that
Oil filled into spaces 3 and 4 of the brake cylinder cannot flow back,
a check valve 2o is built into the filler neck. To facilitate filling
a vent and overflow nozzle 21 is also attached on the opposite side.
During the return of the pressure piston thanks to the enlarged flow opening through
the additional valve, the * valve ring 13, takes place quickly, can 'the forward speed
regulate continuously as required. The regulating member 16 is in view of saving space
built into the hollow spindle 6; it can be rotated with the aid of the hand lever 22.
Depending on its angular position, it covers the opening of the throttle point 15 or more
less and in this way regulates the oil flow, which in turn regulates the forward speed
of the moving organ.
Depending on the construction conditions, the hydraulic brake cylinder,
instead of being laid inside the pressure piston, attached to it.
