Description

Weights to compensate for the imbalances on vehicle wheels are preferred made of lead alloys and are held by means of bent flat steel retaining springs attached to the rim horns. About a hurling of the weights, that too heavy Accidents can result from the flexing movement of the tires, from impacts Bumps in the road surface and caused by centrifugal forces to avoid, the known tongues are provided in some designs of the retaining springs support yourself against the rim flange. However, these tongues do not have in practice the desired effect. The supporting effect or the pressure of the tongue against the rim flange depends on the material thickness of the rim flange, which is the case with different Rim sizes and makes is very different. Weak rim horns result Too small a clamp, strong rim horns bend the retaining spring so much, that it is not possible to use the counterweights twice without theirs To reduce holding ability. In order to use the limited length of the retaining spring To be able to give specific suspension, it is therefore necessary to approximate this retaining spring to be formed as a body of equal strength and thus to achieve that on none Part of the spring the yield point is exceeded and the tension on the whole Spring length is distributed approximately constant. After a number of attempts it will this is achieved according to the invention in that the over the tongue 4 when punching out resulting, previously known breakthrough 5 in the direction of weight I expanded so that the total material cross-section from cross-section I-I to cross-section III-III decreases accordingly, In addition, the durability is due to the arrangement of the opening 5 the spring 2, which otherwise tends to break at this point, is significantly improved, because the tension, which is otherwise very much at the inner corners of the cross-section II-II is high, is significantly reduced by better stress distribution. Another The advantage is that this measure gives the spring a greater deflection at its end has and thus the damage to the tire wall, which so far with similar arrangements has been critically assessed by tire manufacturers, is largely avoided. Of the Breakthrough 5 can also be used as an opening if the position is appropriate to the outside of the weight be used, in which a tool 6 for removing the weight from the rim flange 3 can be used. There is also provision for the outer boundary of the retaining spring to be tapered towards its tip.

The retaining spring thereby approximates the shape of a body same strength and makes it easier to insert the retaining springs between the rim flange and tires.
