Device for making your own cigarettes

The invention relates to a device for making cigarettes yourself.

According to DE-PS 34 07 461, rod-shaped smoking products are known for making cigarettes yourself. These consist of a core of fine-cut tobacco surrounded by a covering of porous material. These rod-shaped smoking products, which are not actually smokeable, are intended to be inserted into a standard cigarette paper tube, but this is difficult because the outer diameter of these rod-shaped smoking products is almost the same as the inner diameter of the cigarette paper tube. In order to make it easier to insert these rod-shaped smoking products or tobacco cartridges, it was proposed according to DE-PS 41 07 027 to bevel the insertion end of such a tobacco cartridge. Furthermore, it is known from DE-PS 42 06 507 to provide extra-long rod-shaped smoking products or tobacco cartridges which, after being cut to the appropriate length, can be inserted or inserted into standard filter cigarette paper tubes.

Particularly for such extra-long tobacco cartridges, it is necessary to provide an appropriate cutting device with which the rod-shaped smoking product can be cut off either before it is inserted into the cigarette paper tube or after it has been inserted, without the rod-shaped smoking product becoming excessively deformed. However, if, for example, a standard pair of scissors is used to cut the rod-shaped smoking product, a squeezing effect occurs which leads to a deformation of the rod-shaped smoking product. This deformation prevents the rod-shaped smoking product from being inserted smoothly into the cigarette paper tube.

Even if an overly long rod-shaped smoking product has already been partially inserted into a corresponding cigarette paper tube, cutting off the remaining overly long rod with scissors will cause it to become deformed, which will disrupt or prevent further insertion of the remaining part into another tube.

A further problem with these extra-long, stick-shaped smoking products according to DE-PS 42 06 507 arises from the need to achieve a sensible portioning of the individual parts in relation to the cigarette paper tube available and with regard to the desired self-made smoking product. However, there is also a need for the self-production of cigarettes using the above-mentioned stick-shaped smoking products or tobacco cartridges to make filterless cigarettes using cigarette paper tubes. These cigarette paper tubes are often slightly deformed when they are removed from the pack or when handled later and can no longer be combined with tobacco cartridges or overly long, stick-shaped smoking products.

The invention is based on the object of proposing a device for making cigarettes yourself, optionally in combination with a cutting and portioning device, with which one can also use filterless cigarette paper tubes for making cigarettes yourself.

To solve this problem, a device according to the main claim is therefore proposed, with particular embodiments being mentioned in the subclaims.

In the following, the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to drawings, in which:

The cutting element, generally designated 10, has a fixed cutting blade 2 and a movable cutting blade 4. Both cutting blades have an approximately semicircular or rounded U-shaped outline that corresponds to the diameter of the rod-shaped smoking product. The cutting blades

are bevelled from their outer surface towards the sharpened edge at an angle of 25 to 50° in a truncated cone shape, thus having a chamfer 6.

The portioning element, generally referred to as 20, consists of a base body or housing 28, which is pivotably connected at one end to the cutting element 10, with the insertion opening 5 for the rod-shaped smoking product located just above the pivot point of these two elements 10 and 20. The portioning element 20 has a guide channel 22, which is aligned with the insertion opening 5. Furthermore, ribs, grooves or colored strips are provided laterally next to the channel as longitudinal markings 24, which automatically determine or portion a certain length of the extra-long rod-shaped smoking product, almost like a guide edge.

In the folded position of the device shown in Figure 2, the effect of a folding bracket 26 attached to the front of the portioning element 20 can still be seen, which engages in a corresponding recess in the cutting element 10 and holds both parts together.

Figure 3 illustrates an embodiment of how the movable cutting blade 4 is moved in the direction of the fixed cutting blade 2. The movable cutting blade 4 is attached to a stamp 30 with a handle 34. This stamp 30

slides back and forth in a bed 32 of the cutting element and is additionally guided in the guide bed by a guide pin 38 which engages in a slot 36 of the stamp 30. In the area between the guide pin 38 and the upper edge of the slot 36, a compression spring 40 is provided, against the force of which the stamp 30 and thus the movable blade 4 can be brought into the "closed" position.

Figure 4 again clearly shows the position of the blades in relation to one another, namely the lower fixed cutting blade 2 and the upper movable cutting blade 4, both of which have a chamfer 6 in the direction of the cutting edge and which, in the "off" position, expose the insertion opening 5 for the rod-shaped product.

Figure 5 shows a partially sectioned view of the holder for a cigarette tube. The actual holder consists of a hole 42, which is arranged either in the cutting device 10 or preferably as shown here in the portioning element 20, ideally parallel to the guide channel 22. A guide rod or a mandrel 44 is located in this hole 42. The inner diameter of the hole 42 and the outer diameter of the guide rod or the mandrel 44 are dimensioned such that a filterless cigarette tube can be pushed on. The depth of the hole 42 preferably corresponds to the length of a cigarette paper tube; but can also be made shorter.

In one embodiment, this guide mandrel 44 is attached to the bottom of the bore 42. In this design, the cigarette tube can be pushed onto the mandrel and is held by it, whereby the free, open end of the cigarette paper tube can be loaded with the tobacco rod and, for example, can be pushed further into the tube with the rod after the partially loaded cigarette paper tube has been pulled out.

In another embodiment, the guide pin 44 can be removed from the bore 42, which can make the stuffing process easier, especially for inexperienced users. For this purpose, the guide rod 44 has a shoulder 54, behind which the inner end 50 of the guide pin is tapered and accommodates a compression spring 48, which presses the guide pin held by a locking device out of the bore 42 when it is released.

The locking device can be a rocker arm 46 which is pivotably arranged in the relevant housing wall and has a pin 56 which can be tilted out of a recess or bore 52 in the lower end 50 of the guide pin and thus releases the guide pin.

Claims (4)

Protection claims 1. Device for the self-production of cigarettes from cigarette paper tubes, which may a) a cutting device characterized by a cutting element (10) whose two cutting blades (2, 4) can be brought by relative movement from an "open" position _/ which, due to the distance between the cutting blades, allows an insertion opening for inserting the rod-shaped smoking product to be cut off between the cutting blades, into a "closed" position in which the rod-shaped smoking product is cut through by the sharpened edges of the cutting blades which move in close contact with each other, shearing off, and or b) a portioning element (20) which has a guide channel (22) for the rod-shaped smoking product in an axial extension of the insertion opening, wherein preferably c) the cutting element (10) and the positioning element (20) are arranged in the position of use in such a way that the cutting element (10) is at right angles to the positioning element (20), so that the insertion opening for the rod-shaped smoking product is aligned with the guide channel for the latter and that d) as a holder for a cigarette paper tube in the cutting element (10) or in the portioning element (20) a bore (42) is provided, the inner diameter of which is 0.1 to 3 mm larger than the outer diameter of a conventional cigarette tube and that a guide rod (44) is arranged coaxially in the bore (42), the outer diameter of which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of a conventional cigarette tube. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the bore (42) runs parallel to the guide channel (22). 3. Device according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that the guide rod (44) is attached to the bottom surface of the bore (42). 4. Device according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that the guide rod (44) is held at its inner end by a locking device (46) to be actuated from the outside or can be pulled out under the pressure of a spring (48) after the locking device (46) has been released.
