two support fittings (4), each of which is slidably mounted on a guide device,

and a first headboard support element (5) arranged between the side walls (1) and in particular plate-shaped, which is attached to the support fittings (4) and can be moved into an approximately horizontal lying position in a lying position of the furniture, characterized by

a second headboard support element (6) arranged between the side walls (1) and in particular in the form of a plate, which is attached to the support fittings (4) so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis (14).

2. Seating and reclining furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the pivot axis (14) runs essentially at right angles to the direction of movement of the two support fittings (4) along the guide devices (2).

Seating and reclining furniture according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that when the first headboard support element (5) is pivoted out into a reclining position, the second headboard support element (6) can be pivoted from a first pivot position, in which the headboard support elements (5, 6) are arranged one above the other, into a second pivot position, in which the second headboard support element (6) is in an approximately horizontal reclining position.

4. Seating or reclining furniture according to one of the preceding claims,

characterized by at least one support (9) on which the second head part support element (6) is supported in a lying position.

Seating and reclining furniture according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support fitting (4) - with respect to the direction of movement of the second headboard support element (6) when transferring the furniture from a sitting position to a reclining position - is attached to the second headboard support element (6) in the region of its leading edge.

Seating and reclining furniture according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support fitting (4) - with respect to the direction of movement of the first headboard support element (5) when the furniture is transferred from a sitting position to a reclining position - is attached to the first headboard support element (5) in the region of its trailing edge.

7. Seating and reclining furniture according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that each support fitting (4) has a first fitting plate (12) to which the first headboard support element (5) is fastened, a second fitting plate (16) to which the second headboard support element (6) is fastened, and a joint (13) which connects the first and second fitting plates (12, 16) to one another and whose pivot axis (14) runs parallel to the intersection of the planes of the fitting plates (12, 16).

8. Seating and reclining furniture according to claim 7, characterized in that the joint (13) is arranged at a distance from the fitting plates (12, 16).

9. Seating and reclining furniture according to claim 8, characterized in that each support fitting (4) has a first bracket (11) which has on the edge the first fitting plate (12) branching off from it at right angles and on the front side outside a guide device engaging

located sliding or roller element (3), and contains a second console (15) which is connected to the first console (11) by the joint (13) and carries the second fitting plate (16) branching off from it at a right angle on the edge.

10. Seating and reclining furniture according to one of claims 8 or 9, characterized in that the second bracket (15) is L-shaped.

Seating and reclining furniture according to one of claims 7 to 10, characterized in that the fitting plates (12, 16) lie essentially in the same plane when the furniture is in a reclining position and are arranged essentially parallel to one another at a distance when the furniture is in a sitting position.

12. Seating and reclining furniture according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the guide device has a substantially horizontal and a substantially vertical section.

13. Seating and reclining furniture according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in a sitting position of the furniture, the first and the second headboard support element (5, 6) are arranged substantially parallel to one another.

14. Seating and reclining furniture according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in a sitting position of the furniture the first and/or the second headboard support element (5, 6) are arranged at an angle to the horizontal and in particular vertically.
