BeschreibungDescription
It has long been known to provide containers, pipelines, agitators, pumps and the like, which are exposed to more or less severe abrasion, with appropriate surface protection, using brick linings or protective coatings made of a thick layer of soft rubber.
These known abrasion protection devices have a relatively short service life, which leads to frequent system downtimes. Another disadvantage of brick linings is that the appropriate dimensioning of the parts and the associated weight problems must be taken into account and that the disposal of the brick lining requires mining work.
Die Dicke der Plättchen beträgt im allgemeinen 0,5 bis 4 mm, vorzugsweiseExtremely stable and inexpensive protective coatings against abrasion have now been found. The rubber-based abrasion protection according to the invention is characterized in that aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ) is present on the surface of the rubber layer. The aluminum oxide is preferably embedded in the rubber coating in the form of platelets. The shape of the platelets is not critical per se; square, round, rectangular, trapezoidal, triangular and similarly shaped Al 2 O 3 platelets can be used. The thickness of the platelets is generally 0.5 to 4 mm, preferably
They are embedded in the rubber material and vulcanized in. The very hard aluminum oxide takes on the abrasion tasks and the rubber coating provides protection against, for example, acidic and basic operation. Since the Al 2 O 3 platelets are rigid structures, more or less large gaps must be provided between the platelets in order to achieve the required flexibility of the rubber coating provided with the platelets. For the same reason, depending on the application of the finished abrasion protection, the size (diameter) of the platelets is selected and small, medium or large platelets are used. The surface of the rubber layer is therefore preferably covered with Al 2 O 3 platelets up to 80 to 95%. The platelets are pressed into the rubber layer at a temperature of 120 to 150 "C. The rubber layer is usually 2 to 6 mm thick.
The abrasion protection according to the invention has a number of advantages. For example, it can withstand high abrasion conditions. It therefore guarantees long service lives and minimizes downtime. Despite the aluminum oxide embedded in the surface, it is easy to handle and can be applied to container walls, pipes, pumps, stirrers and the like without difficulty. The protective coating based on rubber according to the invention can also be produced using conventional methods and is also very inexpensive.
The invention will now be explained in more detail using exemplary embodiments, shown in a drawing with Figures 1 and 2, each figure being designed in the form of a schematic sectional view.
The abrasion protection according to Figure 1 consists of a rubber layer 1, in the surface of which rectangular Al 2 O 3 platelets 2 are embedded at a short distance from one another by means of adhesive holes 3.
Figure 2 shows an abrasion protection provided for a pipe lining. The rectangular Al 2 O 3 plates are embedded on the surface of the rounded rubber sheet 1 and arranged at a short distance from one another.
