Das Gerät ist aus Wellen aufgebaut, auf denen Oberflächenbearbeitungswerkzeuge aufgesetzt sind. Die Wellen sind mit Gelenken (Kardangelenken oder Kugelgelenken oder ähnlich wirkende Gelenken) verbunden, sodaß die Wellenglieder in unterschiedlichen Achsen verlaufen können, aber so verbunden sind, daß die Übertragung eines Drehmoments und einer Drehbewegung möglich ist. Führt man nun diese Glieder in ein gekrümmtes Rohr ein, kann sich die Vorrichtung durch Krümmungen winden und gedreht werden, wobei die Oberflächenbearbeitungswerkzeuge, z.B. Reinigungsvorrichtungen die Rohrinnenwände bearbeiten. Durch die feste Verbindung mit einem starren Gelenk kann auch gegen größere Widerstände gearbeitet werden, sodaß auch Fräßen, Schleifen und ähnlich massive Bearbeitungs- und Reiningungsvorgänge ermöglicht werden. Für unterschiedliche Krümmungen und Durchmesser werden unterschiedliche Wellenlängen und Gelenk- und Wellendicken eingesetzt. Die Anzahl der Wellen und Gelenke kann durch die Anzahl der Glieder verändert werden. Diese können geschraubt oder mit Bajonettverschluß angefügt sein. Zur besseren Zentrierung des Werkzeuges können federnde Räder eingebaut werden. Auch die Werkzeuge können mit Federn gegen die Rohrinnenwand gepreßt werden.The device is made up of shafts on which surface processing tools are mounted.
