Description
Process for obtaining ammonium chloride in the form of non-caking Crystals In the crystallization of ammonium chloride from its aqueous solutions it becomes obtained a salt that is very light due to its grape branched crystal form cakes and forms hard masses, which makes it usable is severely affected. It is known that the salt in slightly trickling, not Caking of texture can be obtained when crystallization is carried out in the presence of pectins or substances of a pectin-like nature. These An investigation of the salt shows that the effect is due to the presence of pectin substances the ammonium chloride in a completely different, cube-shaped Crystal form is obtained. Surprisingly, it has now been found that already Finished fine ammonium chloride crystals which are strong enough to stick together and harden tend to be subsequently converted into a non-baking state, if pectin substances are incorporated into the crystal mass. All that is needed is the crystal mass to be sprayed with an aqueous solution of pectin substances. This can for example done in a filter device or even after the salt is removed from the filter device has been worn out. The crystal mass can, however, also contain ammonium chloride saturated solution containing pectin mashed and then, z. B. by spinning, separated from the solution. The pectin substances can be added to the crystal mass to be treated are added in pure form or used as impure solutions, such as those caused by the weak boiling of beet pulp, molasses, fruit bowls or similar ones Fabrics with 0.5 to 1% hydrochloric acid, weak ammonia water, weak alkali lye or ammonium chloride solution.
The crystal mass is added to the treatment if necessary dried with the pectins. It has proven to be useful to bring in the pectin substances and the drying or just one of these measures with movement of the single crystals, e.g. B. in a rotary drum to make. This creates a uniform transfer of the individual crystals into grainy, no longer caking Structure reached.
Measures to improve the shelf life of salts are have already been proposed in large numbers. These measures are in most Cases specific to the salts to be improved or the salts used for them Additives as well as with regard to the method used. For example it is known that the storage stability of ammonium nitrate fertilizers is thereby to influence favorably that one mixed these fertilizers with an iron hydroxide sol. An improvement in storage stability is only achieved if the iron hydroxide brine be mixed with the solid fertilizer salts, but not when you add them to the ammonium nitrate containing solutions there, from which the fertilizer salts are obtained by crystallization will.
So there is by no means the rule that additives that are used in the Formation of solid salts whose properties can be favorably influenced by mixing with the solid salts themselves also produce a corresponding effect, or vice versa. Accordingly, the present invention particularly relates to Improvement of the shelf life of ammonium chloride by adding pectin substances to already crystallized, common salt that tends to stick together. That pectin substances also have the described effect with this application, was not to be foreseen.
B e i 5 p i e 1 About 12.5 kg of dried beet pulp are in 0.5 to 10% hydrochloric acid weak for about 1/2 to 3/4 hours with frequent stirring cooked. The mass obtained in this way is pressed in a wine press.
The extract of this I2.5 kg schnitzel is boiled with hot water to about Diluted 3 cbm, made weakly ammoniacal and hot through a filter press filtered. With 201 of this pectin-containing solution, which has the extract of 0.083 kg of beet pulp, 550 kg of ammonium chloride crystals are placed in a centrifuge in which they were previously thrown off by their mother liquor. To With the Trodo spin, the salt is dried in a drum oven at Ion'0 '.
A particular advantage here is that the product, in contrast to a salt, which is covered with water without pectin content, when Drying does not stick to the walls of the drying drum and the drum is in trickle State leaves. The cover water can be used repeatedly, so that only the Part of the pectin substances that have adhered to the salt needs to be supplemented. That Dried salt has a loose, fine texture and bakes for a long time Hardly store together.
