Hierdurch wird gewährleistet, daß keine Fehlpositionen der zu schützenden Fahrzeuginsassen in der Auffangposition vorkommen, vor allem wird ein frühzeitiger Seitenschutz bei seitlich auf das Fahrzeug einwirkenden Kräften erreicht. Da der Airbag seitlich im Sitz angeordnet werden kann, ergibt sich aufgrund der Sitzlängsverstellung und Höhenverstellung keine Fehlpositionierung.
