Electrically heated wallpaper.

Until now, the function of wallpaper was its
aesthetic effect, but also in other functions, such as comfort, sound reduction, thermal insulation, etc.

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the idea that under special circumstances (e.g. lack of space in the bathroom) or given requirements (such as in caravans) it may be desirable to make a room heatable even subsequently, without the use of independent and therefore space-consuming heating devices.

This problem is solved with the features listed in the protection claim:

An existing room that was previously not equipped with a heating system can be retrofitted without structural changes to the walls, ceiling or floor.

They can be made heatable by means of a simple wallpapering that can be carried out by any professional and a safe electrical connection using an adjustable transformer, similar to that used today in the widespread low-voltage lighting systems.

In the invention presented, for example, electrically conductive resistance wires (e.g. CrNi resistance wire, in the picture = a ) are incorporated into a textile wallpaper at a defined distance instead of a conventional textile thread.

They can be wrapped with or without decorative yarn and then also meet aesthetic requirements and end after trimming and gluing the wallpaper strip at the upper or lower interface.

The necessary contacts between these wires are made using a metallic or metallized terminal block that extends over the interface. (Image = b+c)

By appropriately designing the clamping line of the strip (c), e.g. with fine saw teeth, secure contact between the strip and the heating wires is ensured.

The sections of this end strip are also connected to each other using suitable shaping or a corresponding device and finally connected to the transformer.

These clamping strips also serve as a visual design, so their color matches the wallpaper pattern and they are used instead of the end strips that were previously used.

The interruption of a single heating filament due to damage or lack of contact has practically no influence on the performance due to the parallel connection.
The compensation is achieved by the operation of the controller, see next paragraph.

The desired room temperature can be set using a controller that is controlled manually or by a temperature sensor, which also provides overheating protection (Figure = d).

Electrical safety is ensured by a residual current device assigned to the system (possibly integrated in the transformer)
(residual current circuit breaker = e).
