Die Technischen Regeln für Gas-Installationen DVGW TRDI 600 Abs. 3.5.2 und 3.5.3 schreiben vor, daß die Dichtheit aller in einem Haus installierten Gasleitungen überprüft wird. Dies kann geschehen, indem bei Verriegeltsein aller Gas-Verbrauchstellen an der Stelle, wo das Gas gebündelt vom Versorgungsunternehmen in die Hausinstallation übernommen wird, die dennoch durchfließende Gasmenge gemessen wird. Bisher sind solche Messungen nicht möglich gewesen, weil es keine Apparatur gab, mit der an dieser Stelle das Gas durch ein Durchflußmeßgerät geleitet werden kann. Die den Adapter durchströmenden Gasflüsse sind dabei gegeneinander abgeschottet.
