Bei den bekannten Kofferverschlüssen dieser Art ist ein Gewichtsstück vorgesehen, das zwei rechtwinklig zueinander verlaufende Schenkel aufweist und welches an derjenigen Wand der Ausnehmung gelagert ist, die dem Rand der tiefen Schale benachbart ist. Liegt der Koffer mit seiner tiefen Schale auf einer waagrechten Unterlage, dann liegt ein Schenkel des Gewichtsstücks gegen die vorgenannte Wand an und befindet sich somit außerhalb der Bewegungsbahn der Abwinkelung des Riegels. Der Riegel kann somit verschoben und der Koffer geöffnet werden.
