Die Erfindung betrifft einen Kopfschutz mit einem Helmteil und mit Befestigungsmitteln. Ein Kopfschutz der in Rede stehenden Art kann in unterschiedlichen Umgebungen und Situationen verwendet werden. Eine Anwendungsmöglichkeit, auf die die vorliegende Erfindung jedoch nicht beschränkt ist, stellt die Verwendung als Fahrradhelm dar. So sind bereits Fahrradhelme bekannt, die mit einem Helmteil aus Styropor oder einem ähnlich leichten, stoßabsorbierenden Material ausgestattet sind. Der erfindungsgemäße Kopfschutz löst die voranstehende Aufgabe durch die Merkmale des Schutzanspruchs 1. Außerdem kann durch Ablassen der Luft bzw. des Gases in den Kammern das Gesamtvolumen des Helmteils verringert werden. Besonders praktisch für den Transport ist, daß das Helmteil schließlich noch zusammenfaltbar ist.
