Description

The invention relates to a corner protection device according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such corner protectors are used, for example, in the corners of boxes, crates, etc. to package a fragile or sensitive object, such as a television set, so that it can be transported without being damaged. A well-known corner protector of this type has a specific shape and is made of polystyrene foam. It is placed on the corners of a sensitive object before

This device has several disadvantages. Firstly, due to its design, it can only withstand a limited amount of pressure or impact. Therefore, it is not suitable for heavy objects such as heavy machinery. Secondly, after use, it is discarded, taking up the already limited space in landfills. Since it is flammable, storing it for reuse or recycling is a danger to the environment. In addition, this device cannot be stored in a space-saving manner, e.g. flattened, and if it were, it could not be reused. A shop owner, to give just one example, therefore needs a lot of space to store such packaging, so this is a major disadvantage for him.

The object of the invention is to create a corner protection device of the type mentioned at the beginning, which does not have the above-mentioned disadvantages, which is in particular reusable and does not take up much storage space.

To achieve this object, the features specified in claim 1 are provided according to the invention in such a corner protection device.

The T-shape of the device according to the invention has the advantage

that a large number of T-shaped cardboard cut-outs can be stacked on top of one another so that they take up little space. The T-shaped cardboard cut-out is folded into a corner protector before use and inserted into the corners of the packing box. Since the device according to the invention is reusable, the cost of purchasing it is reduced. A further advantage is that, since the corner protector is made of cardboard, it can withstand great pressure and its use is not limited to objects with a certain maximum weight, so that the area of application is expanded.

Advantageous further developments arise from the subclaims.

Figure 2 shows a corner protection or covering device 10 according to the invention folded from a T-shaped cardboard blank 10 ' , which is provided with a first wall part 1, a second wall part 3 and a third wall part 20, which are perpendicular to one another and thus form a corner.

The unfolded corner protector has a T-shaped blank 10' with a central axis C, by which it is divided into two L-shaped parts, as shown in Fig. 1. Each of the L-shaped parts is composed of an arm section 1, 3 running longitudinally perpendicular to the central axis C and a transverse section 5, 6 running parallel to the central axis C. The T-shaped blank 10' also has a first fold 2 between the two arm sections 1, 3 and a narrow slot 4 between the two transverse sections 5, 6, the fold 2 and the slot 4 lying in the central axis C. Each of the two arm sections 1, 3 has two second folds 13, 11 and 33, 31, respectively, which are spaced apart from one another and run parallel to the central axis C.

and each of the transverse sections 5, 6 has two third folds 53, 52 and 63, 62, respectively, which are spaced apart from one another and run transversely to the central axis C.

The first fold is a single fold (with one fold line) and the second and third folds are double folds (with two parallel fold lines). In the preferred embodiment, the two arm sections 1, 3 are divided into three equal areas by the second folds. Likewise, the cross sections 5, 6 are divided into three equal areas, so that each area in the arm sections 1, 3 is approximately the same size as an area in the cross sections 5, 6. The width of the double folds in the arm and cross sections can be selected as required.

As shown in Fig. 3, the arm section 3 and the cross section 6 are folded so that the first area of the arm section 3 covers the adjacent second area and the first area of the cross section 6 covers the adjacent second area. The two arm sections 1, 3 are folded by 90° relative to the two cross sections 5, 6, as shown in Fig. 4. The arm section 3 is then folded by 90° at the single fold 2 relative to the other (arm) section 1, so that the one folded cross section 6 comes to lie on the other cross section 5, as shown in Fig. 5. The arm section 1 and the cross section 5 are folded according to the arrow directions shown in Fig. 6.

Finally, the arm sections 1, 3 are folded again, as shown in Fig. 7, so that the corner protection or covering device 10 according to the invention is created, as shown in Fig. 2.

As shown, the corner protector or corner cover 10 has a base part 20 and two side walls 1 and 3 which protrude upwards from two edges of the base part 20. The corner protector or corner cover can be attached to the corners of an object which is then placed in an outer packaging made of wood, cardboard or the like so that it can be shipped to its destination without being damaged.

Claims (5)

Protection claims 1. Corner protection device, with three wall parts (1,3; 5,6), each of which has two connecting edges, each of which is connected to a connecting edge of the other two wall parts, the three wall parts being perpendicular to one another, characterized in that the corner protection device (10) is formed from a one-piece foldable cardboard blank (10'), that the cardboard blank (10') is T-shaped and has a central axis (C) which divides the cardboard blank (10') into two L-shaped parts, each of which has an arm section (1,3) running perpendicular to the central axis (C) and a transverse section (5,6) running parallel to the central axis (C), and that the cardboard blank (10') further has a first fold (2) between the arm sections (1,3) along the central axis (C), a narrow slot (4) between the transverse sections (5,6) along the central axis (C), in each of the arm sections (1,3) has two spaced-apart parallel second folds (13,11;33,31) and in each of the transverse sections (5,6) two spaced-apart parallel third folds (53,52;63,62), wherein the second folds (13,11;33,31) run parallel to the central axis (C) and the third folds (53,52;63,62) run transversely to the central axis (C). 1- V Λ- &igr;· :■ _ ■- &ggr;. - ¹ S 3 &eegr; 2. Corner protection device according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that each of the arm sections (1,3) and the transverse sections (5,6) has a first double fold (13,33; 53,62) of a certain width and a second double fold (11,31; 52,62) of a larger width. 5. Corner protection device according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first, second and third folds (2,11,13,31,33,52,53,62,63) Divide the cardboard cut-out (10') into equal-sized areas.
