The present invention relates to a racket for ball games such as tennis, badminton or the like, with a frame-like head and a stringing of longitudinal and transverse strings attached to the head.

Rackets of this type are known in many different designs.

In the well-known rackets, the stringing consists of a continuous string that is pulled into the head of the racket and tightened accordingly.

The disadvantage of the known rackets is that if a string breaks, it has to be completely replaced, which involves a relatively high material and cost expenditure.

Continuing to play becomes impossible when a string breaks due to the overall reduction in tension.

The present invention is based on the object of eliminating the disadvantages mentioned above and of creating a racket of the generic type which is still playable even in the event of a broken string and can be restored to an optimal condition with little cost and material expenditure.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that at least the longitudinal strings consist of individual strings, each of which is fixed at the end to the head.

If a string breaks on such a racket - although it should be remembered that in practice it is mostly the longitudinal strings of a racket that break - the racket's stringing as a whole remains unaffected, so that the racket can still be used despite a broken string. The racket can also be restored to an optimal condition by replacing a single, relatively short string, i.e. the entire racket's stringing does not have to be replaced.

The racket 1 shown in Figure 1 for ball games such as tennis, badminton or the like has a frame-like head 2 with a stringing 3 attached thereto consisting of longitudinal strings 4 and cross strings 5. The longitudinal strings 4 run parallel to the longitudinal axis of the handle 6 of the racket 1, while the cross strings 5 run at right angles to the said longitudinal axis of the handle 6.

According to the present invention, at least the longitudinal strings 4 consist of individual strings, each of which is fixed at the end to the head 2 of the racket 1.

The cross strings 5 can also consist of single strings and be attached separately at the ends to the head 2.

Figure 2 shows a possible way of attaching the individual strings to the head 2. Figure 2 shows a cross string 5 which passes through the head 2 of the racket and has a thickening formed by a knot 7 at one end, while the other end of this cross side is fixed by a clamping screw 8 screwed into the head, which is pressed onto the cross string 5.

The thickening at one end of a cross string 5 or, analogously, a longitudinal string 4 can be formed by a loop or the like instead of a knot 7.

It is also possible to fix the individual transverse strings 5 or longitudinal strings 5 at both ends using clamping screws 8 in the head 2.

Figure 3 shows that individual strings can also be secured to the head using clamping pieces 9, which are placed on the ends of the strings and, as can be seen from Figure 4, are provided with clamping screws 8. These clamping screws 8 press on the cross strings 5 or, similarly, the longitudinal strings 4. The respective string is fixed to the head 2 under tension using the clamping pieces 9, which are supported on the outside of the head 2.

In the embodiment according to Figures 3 and 4, a closed, ring-shaped clamping piece is shown. Figure 5 shows a modified clamping piece 9, which has the shape of a radially slit ring. This simplifies the placement of a clamping piece 9 on the end of a transverse string 5 or a longitudinal string 4.

In principle, the clamping pieces 9 can also be spherical or cuboid-shaped.

When using clamping pieces 9 to fix the ends of the individual strings, a combination is also possible with the attachment of a thickening at the other end of the respective string.

As Figure 6 illustrates, the longitudinal strings 4 located in the middle area of the head 2 are led out over the head 2 via the lower head end facing the handle 6 of the racket 1 and are fastened to a tension shaft 10 which is arranged so that it can rotate between the legs 11 of the racket heart located in the transition area between the head 2 and the handle 6. The tension shaft 10 is rotatably mounted in these two legs 11 and enables the longitudinal strings 4 located in the middle area of the racket to be re-tensioned after loosening, for example, the clamping screws 8 located in the lower area of the head 2. After re-tensioning has taken place, these clamping screws 8 are tightened again so that the set tension hardness is maintained.

Claims (10)

Racket for ball games such as tennis, badminton or the like, with a frame-like head and a stringing of longitudinal and transverse strings attached to the head, characterized in that at least the longitudinal strings (4) consist of individual strings, each of which is attached at its end to the head (2). 2. Racket according to claim 1, characterized in that the individual strings (4, 5) are fixed by clamping screws (8) screwed into the head (2) and acting on the ends of the individual strings (4, 5) passing through the head (2). 3. Racket according to claim 1, characterized in that the individual strings (4, 5) pass through the head (2) and are each provided at one end with a thickening formed by a knot (7), a loop or the like and are fixed in the region of their other end by a clamping screw (8) screwed into the head (2). 4. Racket according to claim 1, characterized in that the individual strings (4, 5) pass through the head (2) and that clamping pieces (9) provided with clamping screws (8) and supported on the outside of the head (2) are placed on their ends projecting beyond the head (2). 5.
