Die bisher bekannt gewordenen Verstellungen eines innerhalb des feststehenden Leitrades liegenden Schaufelkranzes (wie sie z. B. durch das amerikanische Patent Nr. 192691 bekannt geworden sind) haben den Uebelstand, dafs es nicht nur sehr schwierig und fast unmöglich ist, alle Oeffnungen des feststehenden Leitrades zu gleicher Zeit zu verschliefsen, sondern dafs auch beim mehr oder weniger plötzlichen Schliefsen dieser Leitradöffnungen Stöfse infolge plötzlichen Absperrens des Zuflufswassers entstehen.
