Description
Process for the production of polyvinyl fluoride and copolymers It has been found that vinyl fluoride in aqueous emulsion as such or in Mixture with other polymerizable or copolymerizable compounds Can polymerize to higher molecular weight fluorine-containing substances, if you press it above Zoo atü and temperatures above 5o °, preferably between 5o and 2oo ° suspends. The polymerization can take place in the presence of emulsifiers and polymerization catalysts, such as benzoyl peroxide, persulfate, etc., can be carried out.
It was not foreseeable that vinyl fluoride, which is among the usual Polymerization conditions do not let polymerize in this way in high polymers can be transferred.
Example i 4009 vinyl fluoride are dissolved in 3009 water in a pressure vessel, which contains 10 g of hydrogen peroxide and 2.5 g of ammonium persulfate, with the aid of 15 g of an emulsifying agent, such as. B. palmitin sulfonic acid, emulsified. After about 3 hours of treatment at 100 ° C. and a pressure of 700 atmospheres, 50 g of a polymer are obtained which, according to analysis, contains 37% fluorine. Example 2 300 g of acrylic acid ester and 50 g of vinyl fluoride are emulsified under pressure in a pressure vessel in 250 g of water which contains 20 g of ammonium persulfate, 12 g of hydrogen peroxide and 30 g of palmitic sulfonic acid in dissolved form. After 36 hours of heating to 80 to 20 ° and a pressure gradually falling from Soo to 300 atmospheres, 430 g of a polymer are obtained which, after washing on the roller and drying, has a fluorine content of 7.5 ° ia. EXAMPLE 3 40 cc of tetrahydrofuran + 20 cc of water are filled into a roller autoclave with a capacity of 1.21, plus 2 g of sodium hyposulfite and 20 g of fatty acid from paraffin oxidation as an emulsifier; 220 g of vinyl fluoride are pressed in. After the autoclave has run for a short time, 25 g of potassium persulfate are introduced through a pressure lock. After running for 48 hours at 0 to 100 ° C., 35 g of polymer had formed.
