Bei der in Fig. 1 dargestellten Mietfachanlage befinden sich die Mietfächer in einem als Tresorraum ausgebildeten Mietfachraum, dessen Eingang nachts mit einer Tresortür verschlossen ist. Tagsüber ist der freie Zutritt mittels einer als Glastür ausgebildeten Tür (einer sog. Tagestür) gesperrt. Unmittelbar seitlich vor der Tagestür befindet sich ein Selbstbedienungsterminal mit einem Schlitz für das Einführen einer Kundenidentifikationskarte und einem Tastenfeld für die Eingabe einer dem Kunden zugeordneten Geheimzahl. Das Selbstbedienungsterminal kann ferner ein Anzeigefeld für eine Bedienerführung aufweisen. Die Tagestür wird zur Öffnung nur freigegeben, wenn der Kunde seine Berechtigung mittels seiner Kundenidentifikationskarte und ggf. seiner Geheimzahl an dem Selbstbedienungsterminal nachgewiesen hat.
