Variable Couchtische üblicher Bauart bestehen aus einer Tischplatte, die mit Abstand vom Boden auf Tischbeinen oder anderen Stützformen ruht, ihre Variabilität beschränkt sich auf die Höhenverstellbarkeit der gesamten Tischplatte und auf deren Flächenvergrößerbarkeit durch Auszieh-, Aufklapp- und Drehvorrichtungen, außerdem werden auch solche Couchtische als variabel bezeichnet, deren unveränderliche Formbeschaffenheit dazu geeignet ist, den Couchtisch wenigstens zwei unterschiedlichen Nutzungen zuzuführen. Diese Variabilität reicht nicht aus, da mit diesem Stand der Technik keine Couchtische produzierbar sind, die den Anspruch einer zufriedenstellenden Anpassungsfähigkeit in der Form an unterschiedliche Nutzungsbedürfnisse, zB Eßplatz, Zeitschriftenablage mit Buchregalfach, attraktiver und praktischer treppenförmiger Blumenträger, erfüllen.Variable coffee tables of the usual design consist of a table top that rests on table legs or other forms of support at a distance from the floor. In den Figuren wird deutlich, daß die Schlitze und Tischplattenteile durchgehend paßgerecht gearbeitet sein müssen, sodaß beide Tischplattenteile jeweils bis zum Anschlag einzuschieben sind.
Die Gestaltung der beiden Tischplattenteile sowie der beiden
Stützformen kann den Figuren entsprechen, ist jedoch in Form und Material völlig frei bis hin zu assymetrischen Lösungen, sofern
die Stabilität, die Belastbarkeit und die Nutzungsmöglichkeiten
