Die Erfindung betrifft eine aus einem gestauchten Steg mit stirnseitig angesetzten Tragelementen bestehende Kernstütze für offene Wassermantelkerne, einer Form zum Gießen von Motorengehäusen. Erfindungsgemäß wird daher vorgeschlagen, die Tragelemente federnd auszuführen. Die konkav gebogenen Stützbleche weisen am linken und rechten Rand Ausnehmungen auf und bilden so einen federnden Steg. Die Stützbleche haben im unteren Teil die Stützfunktion, anschließend der federnde nach außen gebogene Steg mit dem Reststück zur Führung.
