Die erfindungsgemäJ3e Leine kann in der Grundkonfiguration als Langlaufleine verwendet werden, wobei der Hauptteil der Leine ein einlagiges, langes Band bildet, an dessen entgegengesetzten Enden sich die Handschlaufe und die Hakenschlaufe befinden. Die Leine läßt sich in eine Polizeileine verwandeln, indem der Hauptteil der Leine und schließlich die Handschlaufe durch den Hakenschlaufen-Ring hindurchgezogen werden, bis der in die Handschlaufe eingehängte Ring an dem Hakenschlaufen-Ring anschlägt. Auf diese Weise wird die ursprüngliche Hakenschlaufe zu einer die gesamte Leine erfassenden großen Schlaufe erweitert, die etwa die halbe Länge der ursprünglichen Leine aufweist. In Fig. 1 ist eine Hundeleine 10 in der Konfiguration als Langlaufleine dargestellt. Von der Hakenschlaufe 20 sind durch zwei Nähte 24 und 26 ein die Öse des Karabinerhakens eng umschließender Abschnitt 28 und ein etwas größerer Abschnitt 30 abgeteilt, dessen Länge gut eine Handbreit beträgt. Das freie Ende des Lederriemens jenseits der Naht 26 ist nochmals zu einer kleinen Schlaufe umgelegt, in die ein Metallring 32 eingenäht ist.
