All horizontal wood splitters currently available on the market either have only a single blade or the blade assembly is limited to just a few positions using screws or bolts.

Criticism:

An optimal setting for the correct diameter of the wood is not possible due to the limited adjustment options.

The adjustment is very time-consuming and requires a lot of effort. The risk of injury is very high because the worker is always in the danger zone during the adjustment process.

Issue

The inventor set himself the task of developing an adjustment that is easy and quick to operate, that ensures optimal adjustment, that reduces the risk of injury compared to previous adjustments and that is inexpensive to manufacture and therefore easy to sell.

Solution

This object is achieved in a generic device by the characterizing features of claim 1. Subclaims 2 to 12 are important components of the invention.

Advantages: We have learned from the professional association that the risk of injury is significantly higher with standing wood splitting machines than with horizontal wood splitting machines. Nevertheless, the market predominantly demands the standing version. One of the reasons for this is certainly the cumbersome adjustment of the splitting blade in the horizontal version.

This could change thanks to the continuously height-adjustable splitting knife with cross-cutting. With relatively little additional effort, a number of advantages are achieved.

- Work is better distributed among multiple workers

- with previous adjustments, practice showed that the adjustment was not used at all. With my invention, this is certainly not the case, so a much higher performance is achieved than conventionally.

Example:

The splitting knife with cross cutting edge (1) can be infinitely adjusted vertically in a guide (2). The guide (2a) on the cutting side of the splitting knife (1) is adapted to the shape of the cutting edge and is firmly connected to the frame (15).

The support part (16) guides the back of the splitting knife (1).

The lateral guide is formed by two welding plates (17) which connect the support part (16) to the frame

(15) to form a unit, and on the other hand the _cross cutting edge (18). This has a recess in the middle of the rear part in which the support part

(16) guides the splitting knife (1).

A tension spring (14) which is attached to the lower end of the splitting knife (1) and to the welding plate (17) supports the lifting process of the splitting knife (1).

A rope (8) is also movably attached to the lower part of the splitting knife (1). This runs over a pulley (9a) in a pipe or through bushings to the oil/gas setting device.

This adjustment device is preferably located next to the basic control devices and consists of a lever (3), a base plate (10) with guide (11), a rubber buffer (7), a clamping screw (13), a deflection roller (9) and a locking rail (12).

The rope (8) that comes from the splitting knife (1) now runs over the pulley (9) to the lever (3) and is attached there. The locking rail (12) is movably attached to the lever (3) and runs along the base plate (10) through the guide (11).

If the lever (3) is now pressed down with the foot, the rope pulls the splitting knife upwards in the form of a pulley. At the same time, the locking rail (12) moves downwards in the guide (11).

Execution

Example: This process can be assisted by hand via the locking rail (12).

If the splitting knife (1) is in the desired position (Fig. 2), the clamping screw (13) is tightened. The clamping screw (13) presses the locking rail (12) against the base plate (10), which is then firmly locked. Since the lever (3) is connected to the locking rail, it cannot move back and thus holds the splitting knife (1) in position with the help of the rope (8).

If the clamping screw (13) is now loosened, the splitting knife (1) slides back into the basic position under its own weight (Fig.1).

The tension spring ensures that the blade slides back gently. When the splitting knife (1) slides back, the lever (3) is also returned to its basic position (Fig.1) via the cable (8). The rubber buffer (7) prevents the lever (3) from hitting the support frame (5) hard and cushions the lever (3).

The adjustment device is most sensibly arranged next to the basic control devices (19), so that a worker can easily perceive all operating elements, and this outside the danger area.

Height-adjustable splitting knife with cross cutting edge (1) for all horizontal wood splitting machines, whether for meter-long or small wood, characterized in that the splitting knife with cross cutting edge (1) is vertically infinitely adjustable in a guide (2). 2. Continuously height-adjustable splitting knife with cross cutting edge according to Claim 1, characterized in that a lever (3) is movably mounted on an axis (4) of the support frame (5) and is provided with a transverse step (6) which serves to operate the lever (3). 3. Continuously height-adjustable splitting knife with cross cutting edge according to previous requirements, characterized in that a rubber buffer (7) on the lever (3) serves as a low-noise and slightly spring-acting stop in the basic position (Fig. 1). 4. Continuously height-adjustable splitting knife with cross cutting edge according to previous requirements, characterized in that a rope (s) is preferably attached to the lever (3), which is connected to the splitting knife (1). 5. Continuously height-adjustable splitting knife with cross cutting edge according to previous requirements, characterized in that the part (8) is guided over at least one deflection roller (9) and is guided and laid in a pipe or a bushing. 6. Continuously height-adjustable splitting knife with cross cutting edge according to previous requirements, characterized in that the rope (8) is movably attached to the splitting knife (1) in order to prevent the rope from kinking. 7. Continuously height-adjustable splitting knife with cross cutting according to previous requirements, characterized in that a locking rail (12) is movably mounted on the lever (3) and _slides up and down in the guide (11) during the adjustment process. 9.
