To protect the carpets that are usually permanently installed in most motor vehicles, especially in cars, floor mats made of rubber or rubber-like plastic are usually used. Depending on the fit, material of the floor covering and the floor mat, etc., these floor mats can tend to slip when subjected to a certain amount of stress. On the one hand, this means that they no longer fulfill their intended purpose. On the other hand, this is also dangerous and can, under certain circumstances, lead to injuries.

The fastening element according to the invention is simply placed over the edge of a floor mat to be attached. Then the two legs of the U-shaped part are pressed against each other. This causes the claws formed on the ends to grip the floor mat. The floor mat is then placed in the vehicle and secured in place in the carpet of the vehicle using the spike-like attachment on the fastening element. The spike-like attachment should point with its tip in the direction of travel.

A fastening element according to the invention does not require any preparation during assembly. It can be easily installed within a few moments; above all, no tools are required for fastening.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing. The invention will be explained in more detail below using this embodiment.

The fastening element 1 according to the invention is punched from spring steel. It is bent in a U-shape and thus has 2 legs 2 and 3. The legs 2 and 3 therefore run approximately parallel to each other. In the initial state they can run slightly diverging.

Claws 4 are formed on the free ends of the legs 2 and 3, which are bent inwards into the open area of the U and thus run in opposite directions. In the example shown, thorn-like projections 5 are formed on the sides of the leg 2, which taper to a point towards their free end. These thorn-like projections 5 are bent outwards from the leg 2 at a relatively small angle.

The application of the fastening element 1 is illustrated in Figure 2:

The fastening element 1 is pushed with its legs 2 and 3 over the edge of a doormat M. If the edge of the mat lies roughly on the web 6 of the fastening element 1, the legs 2 and 3 are pressed firmly against each other so that the claws 4 firmly grip the doormat M. The fastening element 1 is thus fixed to the edge of the mat M in a captive and immovable manner.

The floor mat M can now be inserted into a vehicle with several fastening elements 1 attached to one side in the prescribed manner. The fastening elements 1 should be arranged at the end of the floor mat M that faces the seat. When inserting the floor mat M, it is then pushed firmly in the direction of travel. The edge of the mat and the fastening elements are held downwards so that the thorn-like projections 5 penetrate the carpet covering T attached to the vehicle floor.

It is easy for the expert to see that in addition to the fastening element shown in the drawing as an example, there are a number of other design options.

It would be conceivable, for example, to form only one mandrel 5 approximately in the middle of one leg and to allow the claws 4 to protrude from the side of this mandrel. If it is a stamped part, the focus of the structural design of the subject matter of the invention will have to be on cutting it in a way that saves as much material as possible.
