The invention relates to a system for cladding walls and/or ceilings. It has long been known to clad walls and/or ceilings with profiled wood and/or cassettes made of wood-based materials. The design options, especially with the profiled wood, are strictly limited, since different decorative effects can only be achieved by selecting the wood and/or aligning the profiled boards on the walls and/or ceilings.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a completely new system that opens up a previously unknown variety of variations and design options.

According to the invention, this task is solved in a generic system by cladding parts in the form of panels and possibly skirting boards with at least one groove formed in the surface of the cladding part; and inserts that are designed in such a way that they can be brought into engagement with the groove(s) in the cladding part and secured there. This multi-part, coordinated system with a few different basic building blocks enables a large variety of possible combinations to be realized. The number, orientation, extension and width of the grooves in the cladding parts as well as the width, profile and color of the inserts can vary. With two different cladding parts and four different inserts, for example, eight possible variations can be made available. In addition, the invention also provides for skirting boards to be provided with corresponding grooves in the same way as the panels, so that the decorative effect of the inserts can also be continued in the skirting board area.

It can be provided that the covering part has one or more grooves aligned in the longitudinal direction and/or in the transverse direction and/or at any angle therebetween in any combination.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the groove(s) in the trim part and the insert(s) have the same width. In this way, a particularly simple assembly of the system according to the invention is possible, since the inserts can be inserted into the groove over their entire width, an additional spring on the back of the insert, as in the case of a narrower groove in the trim part, i.e. not

is necessary, on the other hand the insert in a groove that is wider than the insert but does not need to be aligned.

The invention further proposes that the groove(s) extend over the entire length and/or width of the trim part. Of course, it is also possible to provide the groove over a certain shorter section of the trim part in order to achieve a special decorative effect through the resulting frame-like enclosure of the insert part by the trim part.

The invention further proposes that the covering part has a single groove running centrally in the longitudinal direction.

A further embodiment of the invention provides that the covering part has at least two grooves of different depths, which overlap in such a way that a step-like profile is created. In this way, it is possible to achieve a further decorative effect through the additional profiling of the covering part. In addition, this also opens up the possibility of using inserts of different widths.

The invention further provides that the insert can be folded in the middle in both directions. Such folding strips, which are known per se, open up the additional possibility of using the inserts as internal corner or external corner connections in the cladding and thus continuing the decorative effects of the inserts in these areas, i.e. on the ceiling edges and window or door panels.

The panel and/or the insert can preferably be made of either solid wood or coated pressed wood. Materials such as plastic, metal or even textile are also conceivable for the inserts. With the last alternative, for example, the carpet provided in the room could be used to extend its decorative effect to the wall or ceiling paneling.

Fig. 1 shows a cladding part in the form of a wooden panel 10 with a groove 11 and tongue 12 for assembly in the manner known from profile boards. A groove 14 runs in the middle of the length of this wooden panel, into which an insert 20 of the same width is inserted. This insert has a wavy profile and is preferably a different color than the wooden panel. In addition, the insert 20 has a notch 22 on its back that runs along its entire length, along which the insert 20 can be folded to form an inside corner or outside corner connection.

Fig. 2 shows another possibility for a wooden panel 10, this time with two parallel longitudinal grooves, into which, in the case shown, identical inserts 20 are inserted. Of course, inserts with different profiles and/or different colors can also be used here.

Finally, Fig. 3 shows a view of the front face of another embodiment of the system according to the invention, in which a wooden panel 10 with overlapping grooves 15 and 16 is used, the inner groove 16 having the same width as the insert 20. Of course, in this embodiment of the invention, inserts with a width up to the specified width of the outer groove 15 can also be used. A recess 19 is provided on the front face 18 of the wooden panel, which serves to accommodate a lamello spring.

The connection of two wooden panels 10 at their end faces 18 by means of a lamello spring 30 is shown in Fig. 4.
