Deckgläser für mikroskopische Untersuchungen, d. h. Deckgläser, mit denen ein Präparat auf einem Objektträger abgedeckt wird, werden im allgemeinen in quaderförmigen Schachteln abgegeben, die wie in Fig. 1 im Querschnitt dargestellt, ein Unterteil 2 und einen Deckel 4 aufweisen, die über ein Scharnier 6 miteinander verbunden sind. Die Scharniere 6 können mit ihren beiden Scharnierelementen an das Unterteil bzw. an den Deckel angespritzte Teile von Kugelscharnieren, aber auch Filmscharniere sein, bei deren Verwendung Unterteil und Deckel gemeinsam als ein Spritzgußteil herstellbar sind. Der Deckel 4 ist normalerweise durchsichtig. In der Schachtel ist jeweils wenigstens ein Deckglasstapel 8 verpackt. Die Abmessungen der Schachtel sind in der Dimension senkrecht zu den Schnitten nach Fig. 1 und 2 üblicherweise größer als die Abmessungen in dieser Schnittebene. Die Schachtel ist also bei der dargestellten Ausführungsform als ein länglicher Quader ausgebildet.
