The invention relates to a method and a device for detection
Unsaponifiable fractions in oils and fats or substances containing them.
The detection and determination of unsaponifiable substances, such as mineral oil,
Mineral fat in soap raw materials and edible fats or from milking fat containing mineral oil
in milk, is often of concern. So a portion of unsaponifiable affects
in fats or fatty acids intended for the soap industry, the yield
and the quality of the soap being made. A mineral fat content in edible fats
is not only harmful to health, but also represents a fake in the sense
of the Food Act. It was also established that cattle farmers of the
Sometimes milk fat containing mineral oil is added to milk to achieve a higher fat content
To pretend to be in the milk, or by carelessness, milking fat containing mineral oil is released
into the milk.
The method according to the invention for the detection of unsaponifiable fractions
in oils and fats or substances containing them is characterized by
that the substance with a fat-soluble dye containing alcoholic
Lye is saponified, whereby the unsaponifiable portion of the oils or fats intensively
colors and deposits.
(Chem. Zentralblatt I935, II, S. 245I) Anwendung.A dye that has a contrasting color is expediently used
results in the original color of the substance. When testing milk for an additive
of milking fat containing mineral oil is preferably used as the coloring agent, alkylated diaminoanthraquinone
(Chem. Zentralblatt I935, II, p. 245I) application.
The device used for the quantitative execution of the method
according to the invention is there; characterized in that on a piston as a level vessel
movably arrgebrachter funnel and a measuring tube for reading off when cooking
The unsaponifiables separated from the substance and assumed a contrasting color are arranged
are. The liposoluble dyes used are of their type and
Constitution appropriately selected so that it is more alkaline when cooking in alcoholic
Solution can be destroyed and only by dissolving in the unsaponifiable prior to this destruction
to be protected. The solvent used for the alkali and the dye is used
preferably lower alcohols such as methanol, ethanol or isopropyl alcohol.
The best alkali is potassium hydroxide. Suitable dyes can be found
in the group of the azo dyes, such as, for example, alkylated diaminoanthraquinone.
A device suitable for carrying out the method is shown in the drawing.
Federn gesicherten Schliffes aufsetzbar.
On a piston 1 is a graduated measuring tube 2 by means of a

5 movably attached so that it can serve as a level vessel.
20 Gewichtsprozent Kaliumhydroxyd, 80 Gewichtsprozent Methanol, 0,00;3 Gewichtsprozent
The handling of the device is, for example, when testing
Milk to a content of mineral oil-containing milking fat emulsion as follows: A measured
Milk sample is poured into the flask 1 through the funnel 4, taking it up to
Liquid level 6 is enough. Then a solution of is through the funnel 4
20 weight percent potassium hydroxide, 80 weight percent methanol, 0.00; 3 weight percent
of an alkylated diaminoanthraquinone, two to three times the amount
the amount of milk poured into the flask I, the liquid in the flask I
then the liquid level 7 is reached. The contents of the flask then boil
brought, whereby the liquid is first green and then over green-blue to dark brown
colors. Now so much water is added through the funnel 4 that the liquid
the zero mark 8 in the measuring tube 2 is reached. After standing, the liquid has become
cooled, and the unsaponifiable, which has an intense blue color, is
rose in the measuring tube 2. Necessary cases are now provided by tilting
of the funnel 4 exactly to the zero mark 8 and then reads on the scale 3
the content of unsaponifiables. If unsaponifiable constituents are absent, then occurs
neither a blue deposit nor is the liquid colored because of the dye
is destroyed by cooking in the absence of saponifiable substances.
