Chim. Acta, Vol. 7, [r924]; - p. 953).
The p -hydrocarbonoxycyclohexanone is after C 1 ai sen with diethyloxalate and sodium ethylate in 2-ethoxalyl-4-hydrocarbonoxycyclohexanone of the formula converted, from which, with heating, 2-carbethoxy-4-hydrocarbonoxycyclohexanone of the formula receives. The crude product is then extracted with a solvent such as ether or benzene and the solvent is distilled off.
The 2-carbethoxy-2- (ß-disubstituted-aminoethyl) -4-hydrocarbonoxycyclohexanone is then decarbethoxylated with about 20 to 20% hydrochloric or sulfuric acid by heating to a temperature between about 8o and zro °, but preferably at the reflux temperature for about ten to twenty hours or with barium hydroxide in alcohol, whereby 2- (ß-disubstituted-aminoethyl) -4-hydrocarbonoxycyclohexanone of the formula is obtained, which is separated in a conventional manner, for example by treatment with alkali, extraction with ether and distillation.
The 2- (ß-disubstituted-aminoethyl) -4-hydrocarbonoxycyclohexanone is treated with methyl lithium in an organic solvent such as diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran or N-methylmorpholine and, after hydrolysis, gives z-methyl-2- (ß-disubstituted-aminoethyl) -4-hydrocarbyl oxycyclohexanol of the following formula The reaction is preferably carried out at the reflux temperature of the solvent used; it takes about 2 to 4 hours.
