Process for the preparation of photosensitive emulsions It is known
to subject photographic emulsions to vibrations, thereby reducing their sensitivity
to increase. The action of the vibrations can both when the
Halogen and silver salts as in further processing or in post-treatment
take place. Both electrical high-frequency vibrations can be used as vibrations
can be used as they are used in long and short wave diathermy.
However, short radio waves can also be used. Likewise can
Sound waves are used. Warming occurs in each case. The impact
of the vibrations replaces the water bath or another heat source. the
known application of vibrations was only a substitute for the usual one
Heating provided on the basis of the consideration that the vibrations generate heat
is generated evenly within the entire emulsion and not as with an external one
Warming creates a temperature gradient from the wall to the center. The result
such attempts were, however; that the emulsions produced by this process
no significant advantages for practical use over the merely
have emulsions made by heating.
In contrast, the invention relates to a method for production
light-sensitive emulsions, which are considerably superior to the known ones. That
new processes for the preparation of photographic emulsions, in which at the
Formation of the bromide silver or the further treatment oscillations of at least
the frequency of the sound waves acting on the emulsions is that simultaneously
cooling takes place with the action of the vibrations. The cooling can be so intense
be that the temperature of the treated emulsions is below the temperature,
which is used in the usual emulsion production.
One-
such beneficial effect of the combination of vibration treatment and cooling
on the emulsion could according to the previously known method, in which even with
additional heating is not achieved.
The technical teaching underlying the invention must therefore as
can be viewed quite peculiarly and surprisingly.
The beneficial effect achieved by the new process is there
Briefly summarized in the following: The post digestion time is reduced to about a third
degraded. The sensitivity of the emulsion will be. ' increases, the veil value of the
Emulsion decreased and the fine grain of the emulsion improved.
The new process makes it possible to increase the concentration under which the silver bromide formation takes place by 50 % , and to reduce the gelatin content by 50% and more compared to normal emulsions without flocculation or the formation of a coarse and granular emulsion is created. The particular advantages of this process are therefore that it is possible to work at lower temperatures - with a higher concentration for silver bromide and a lower concentration for gelatin without the emulsion becoming fogged or sedimented. The effect can be increased by adding additives to the emulsion which, without having any chemical effect on the emulsion, increase the effectiveness of the vibrations. Colloidal silver or fine glass beads or glass dust, which increase the effect of the vibrations, can be used as such. Exemplary embodiment With an emulsion batch of the usual type with 600 g of silver nitrate, as is generally used in photographic emulsion technology, three parallel tests were carried out: i. emulsified, digested and redigested at -40 ° C by heating with warm water; 2.- treated at 40 ° C by heating with electrical vibrations, 3. treated by supplying electrical vibrational energy and simultaneous cooling with water, the temperature of which was 15 ° C, the temperature; during which emulsification, digestion and post-digestion took place, was 38 ° C.
Versuch i ergab die Wertzahl 5
5
The chemical and other test conditions were otherwise kept completely the same in all three tests. The vibrations were fed to the emulsion by a transmitter whose wavelength was 100 m. -The emulsions were processed and poured according to the usual methods. The tests according to the DIN method showed in test 1 16/10 ° DIN 0.3 haze density
_ _ 2 16 / io ° - 0.3 -
_
_ _ 3 17 / 1p ° - 0.2
The resolution and the fine grain were checked by a screen method. The lower the number in question, the higher the resolution. - - Experiment i gave the value number 5
5
_ 3 3 to 4.
In experiment 3, a yield that was 10% higher was obtained from the same amount of silver, despite better coverage compared to experiment 2 and i. It follows from this that there was less degradation of the gelatin in experiment 3 than in experiments: z and i. The lower haze value in test 3, despite the higher sensitivity and fine-grainedness, must also be emphasized.

und die Energie auf 2 kW/Std.The frequency of the vibrations in experiments 2 and 3 was 3,000
