Image recording device according to claim 1, characterized in that the colored ink ribbon (54) has several different color sections in its longitudinal extension and that the image recording device (51) with the relevant colored ink ribbon (54) contains a sheet circulation channel (57) for repeatedly feeding the recording sheet (9, IQ) to the recording head (16) together with a different color section of the ink ribbon (54) each time (Fig. 2).

characterized in that in both image recording devices (1, 2) the recording head (15, 16), the sheet supply container (7, 8) and the sheet tray (21, 22) are arranged in a housing (3, 4) and the ink ribbon (27, 28) together with a printing roller (29, 30) are arranged in an ink ribbon cassette (5, 6) which is held in a plug-in manner on the housing (3, 4), which has openings (31, 35; 32, 36) for transferring the recording sheet (9, 10) from the sheet supply container (7, 8) into the ink ribbon cassette (5, 6) and out of the latter onto the sheet tray (21, 22), and that the outlet opening (43, 44) with the upstream switch (45, 46) and the inlet opening (39, 40) with the adjoining sheet guide channel (41, 42) are each arranged in the ink ribbon cassette (5,6) of the respective image recording device (1,2) (Fig. 1).
