Protective insert for light and/or ventilation shafts

The invention relates to a protective insert for light and/or ventilation shafts that can be covered by gratings.

It is well known that light and/or ventilation shafts are covered with gratings for safety reasons in order to prevent large objects from falling in, to prevent accidents and to prevent unwanted people from entering. However, these gratings cannot prevent the ingress of leaves, dirt and, above all, vermin. However , basement rooms supplied with light and/or air via shafts are usually storage rooms from which vermin must be kept away. The openings leading to the shafts are often near the ceiling or are blocked by built-in elements, so that mosquitoes can get into them.

The invention is based on the object of creating a protective insert for light and/or ventilation shafts, through which the penetration of vermin such as beetles, backs, spiders and also small rodents that can slip through a grating is reliably prevented, but which remains accessible for cleaning.

The stated object is achieved according to the invention by a protective insert of the type mentioned at the beginning, which is characterized by at least one friction plate made of corrosion-resistant material, which can be inserted into the shaft and which is adapted to the dimensions of the grating and the shaft in such a way that it covers the entire shaft cross-section.

The protective insert can be suitably provided at least partially with an edge border, which ensures a tight band connection against a boundary wall of the light shaft, in particular against a support surface on the shaft intended for the covering grating. The desired tight connection, which prevents insects from penetrating under the edges of the protective insert, can advantageously be ensured by the edge border being made of an elastically flexible material.

By arranging the protective insert in the immediate vicinity of the grating, to which it can also be connected, the entire shaft is kept free of vermin.

and cannot, for example, be filled with cobwebs, which would impair its puncture. The protective insert remains easily accessible and can be freed of dust, dirt and leaves by vacuuming the grating, or the protective insert can be cleaned after removing the grating and the protective insert.

A protective insert designed according to the invention can also be used in relatively large light or ventilation shafts. The necessary stability can be achieved, for example, by the protective insert consisting of two sieve plates with different sized sieve openings arranged parallel to one another and coupled to one another at least at their ends, whereby the sieve plate with the large sieve openings provides a support function for oil and the sieve plate with the small sieve openings. The latter can consist, for example, of a flexible sieve fabric made of metal and/or plastic threads. The protective insert can also be provided with stiffening bars. Its stability can also be provided by a rigid frame on which the friction fabrics or sieve plates are mounted or clamped.

Fig. 1 shows a light shaft 10 which is formed in front of a window 11 of a basement room between an outer wall and a shaft wall 13. The upper opening of the light and ventilation shaft 10 is closed by means of a known grating 14, which is secured against unwanted removal by means of a safety device, only indicated schematically, consisting of a hook 15 engaging the grating ¹¹ and a chain anchored to the shaft wall 13.

A protective insert 17 is arranged directly below the grating, which in the embodiment according to Fig. 1 consists of a single sieve plate 18, the edges of which are provided with a rubber-elastic border 19. The rectangular sieve plate 18 of the protective insert rests on three sides on the wall shoulder 13.1 of the shaft wall 13, which is intended for the support of the grating I^. tightly against the outer wall of the building 12. The sieve plate can advantageously consist of a sieve fabric made of plastic threads and/or metal threads.

Fig. 2 shows part of a protective insert 17', which consists of two sieve plates 20 and 21 arranged parallel to one another, of which the upper sieve plate 20 has smaller sieve openings than the lower sieve plate 21. The upper sieve plate 20 can consist of a flexible sieve fabric that rests on the inherently rigid lower sieve plate 21. Here too, the protective insert 17' is provided with a preferably rubber-elastic edge edging 19', which simultaneously secures the two sieve plates 20 and 21 in their mutual position. The edge edging 19' can also consist of a stable support frame, which is provided with a sealing top cover and in which two sieve fabrics that are not inherently rigid themselves or just a single sieve fabric can be clamped. In order to be able to pass a safety hook 15 of a safety device (shown in Fig. 1), the two sieve plates 20 and 21 are each provided with a slot 22 suitable for the hook shaft.
