Holder for a Menu tablet pen

The innovation concerns a holder for a menu tablet pen that is connected to a digitizing tablet or a computer and is used to call up computer menu commands or to create graphic representations, whereby a spatial relationship is established between the tip of the tablet pen and a point on the digitizing tablet, the coordinates of which are recorded and stored digitally.

When using a tablet pen, as shown for example in the magazine "Infografik" 1985, April, page 19, the problem arises that if the tablet pen is put down because work is interrupted, the last point worked on on the digitizing tablet is not automatically retained. If the tablet pen is not put down carefully, the exact point must be searched for again when work is continued.

The task is to present a holder for a Menue tablet pen, which ensures that its exact position is maintained during work interruptions and which also enables easy positioning of the Henue tablet pen during processing.

This task is solved by the holder having an upper support and a lower support for the tablet pen, the different distances of which from the surface of the digitizing tablet are such that the tablet pen is held at approximately the same angle and distance from the digitizing tablet as during normal handling and that the holder has three spherical support points for good stability, which enables the holder to be easily moved.

The user of a menu tablet pen can use the holder to position it precisely even if he puts it down. The exact position is then retained, so that when he continues working he can start immediately at the same point where he left off. The menu tablet pen can also generally be positioned using the holder, which may allow him to work more precisely.

The innovation is explained in more detail using an example embodiment, which is shown in the drawings.

In the holder 1 for a menu tablet pen 4 shown in Fig. 1, an upper support Z and a lower support 3 can be seen. Due to the different distances of the two supports 2 and 3 from the surface of the digitizing tablet 5, when the tablet pen 4 is put down, an angle and a distance arise which are the same or similar to those when the tablet pen 4 is handled directly. A retaining bracket 7 is provided near the lower support 3. This retaining bracket 7 is designed so that the tablet pen 4 remains held at a predetermined distance from the surface S of the digitizing tablet. It is not absolutely necessary for the tablet pen 4 to have a special design for contact with the retaining bracket 7, as shown in the drawing. The design of the retaining bracket 7 and the shape of the supports 2 and

3 is selected so that the tablet pen 4 is inserted into the holder 1,

that the buttons can be easily operated again.

From Fig. 1 to 3 it can be seen that the holder 1 has three support points 6, so that good stability is achieved

and wobbling is impossible. Due to the open design, only a small part of the surface 5 of the digitizing tablet is covered. If the entire holder 1 is made of transparent plastic, the parts of the digitizing tablet located underneath the holder 1 can also be seen, so that the clarity is not impaired.
