Nesting aid

Nests for raising young animals or as a home for (overwintering) sleep are built by numerous species of birds, mammals and/or insects due to their natural behavior. The animals collect insulating material, which, depending on the species, is used to form a half-shell or the spherical or egg-shaped shape of a nest.

The animals sometimes need a long time to build their nests or dwellings, depending on the design or size of the nest/building.

When gathering building materials, they expose themselves to risks in the open air, for example by being killed by predators or vehicles. This risk is particularly high in cleared cultivated gardens, where gathering suitable material takes longer or is often no longer possible in intensively maintained green spaces.

However, a short construction time is important for the survival of the animals. Once the building is completed, the animals mark out their territory, which gives such animals advantages when looking for a partner or when raising their young, as their dwelling is completed in a short construction time. Due to the extensive human intervention in nature, however, natural competition is often no longer present.

The invention is based on the object of compensating for this.

The nesting aid consists of a mixture of materials that can be used as an actual nest or, depending on the animal species, as an insert for further expansion, as a so-called "nesting insert" or as an external offering for "self-contained further construction".

Preferably, it is produced inexpensively in large quantities from natural and/or decomposing materials such as hair, feathers, organic or inorganic fibers or structures, fabric or paper. The aim is to ensure that it has the highest possible insulating capacity and the highest possible water permeability.

As a commercial article, the mesh is preferably designed in such a way that it can be inserted into commercially available riveting devices as a so-called "nesting insert", for example in a half-shell shape, or can be offered to other animal species for further processing due to the packaging, for example in nets.

Drawings la and lb show an example of such a "rivet insert" in a round design with a diameter of approx. 14 cm, and drawing 2 shows the same nest insert in a suspended state, which allows certain animal species to choose from the different materials.
